ADDITIONAL ETI (COVID-19) : SIMPLEPAY Step 1: Enable Additional ETI. If you qualify for the additional ETI rules, you will need to indicate this on SimplePay. To do so: Go to Settings > Payroll Calculations > Additional ETI (COVID19). Enter the Additional ETI Effective Date. Click Calculate. I NEED TO REFUND THE UIF, HOW DO I DO THIS? : SIMPLEPAY The following information has been extracted from the TERS FAQ issued by government: Clients are advised to first email the UIF with a request for refund before making a bank transfer. Clients should email the following documents/information to covid19refunds@labour.gov.za, making them aware of the transfer. Bank statement. UIF referencenumber.

Enter each employee’s email address in the relevant field. Check the box under Enabled. Click Save. The enabled employees will then be sent an email with an activation link, allowing them to choose a password and log in to view their payslips and / or submit requests. CALCULATING ETI : SIMPLEPAY Employees Working Less than 160 Hours per Month. Where an employee is employed for less than 160 hours in the month, the remuneration amount must be “grossed up” to 160 hours per month to calculate the value of the ETI. The ETI amount claimable can then be determined and “grossed down” in the same ratio. The ratio is determined by COMPANY CAR : SIMPLEPAY If an employee makes use of a company vehicle owned by the employer, the taxable value of the vehicle must be added to the employee’s remuneration each month.. The fringe benefit value is calculated as a percentage of the determined value of the car (as per the SARS guide here) and the percentage will depend on whether the original purchase price included a maintenance plan.REPORTS : SIMPLEPAY

SARS has allowed for a deferred payment of 35% of employees’ PAYE for the periods 1 April – 31 July. In other words, you can deduct the PAYE from employee’s payslips, but only pay over 65% of the PAYE owed to SARS immediately. SARS EMPLOYMENT TAXES VALIDATION PROCESS : SIMPLEPAY SARS Employment Taxes Validation Process : SimplePay. As of the 2020 tax year, SARS is holding employers more accountable for ensuring that they deduct the correct PAYE and SDL. This is being done through a validation process, whereby SARS performs calculations on PAY RUNS : SIMPLEPAY What is a Pay Run? Unlike most payroll systems – where you generally have a “payroll run”, which finalises all payslips in the current period and moves everything over to the next period – on SimplePay, a pay run is merely a grouping of payslips. The finalisation of your ENDING AN EMPLOYEE’S SERVICE : SIMPLEPAY To download the UI-2.7 form generated by SimplePay: Go to the employee’s profile after ending their service. Click on Manage End of Service. Click on the PDF icon under Service Period History. The first page of the PDF document will be your UI-19 form and the second page is the UI-2.7 form. EXCEL IMPORT FOR EMPLOYEE DETAILS : SIMPLEPAY Excel Import for Employee Details : SimplePay. If you have a large number of employees to add to the system, you may wish to do this in bulk. This can be done using our Excel import function by going to Employees > Bulk Actions > Bulk Add Employees and downloading the template, which can be uploaded again from this screen.
