WELCOME TO SHELBYTRANSAM.COM SHELBY NOTCHBACK RACERS. This web site is dedicated to the Trans Am race cars of Shelby American, 1966-1968. And in particular, car #23, owned by me. But the story of my car alone would not suffice, so included here is the story behind all of the cars S-A built in 1966-1968 for the greatest American Roadracing series ever.

Car number 7R01K2xxx06 knew it was special the moment it's build sheet was printed up. That K in the VIN meant it was a HighPerformance job.
1967 SHELBY TRANS AM RESTORATION 1967 Shelby Trans Am restoration 1967 TRANS AM ENGINE 1967 Trans Am Engine 1967 TRANS AM ENGINE 1967 TRANS AM ENGINE. The original motors for the 1966 and 1967 Shelby Trans Am cars were essentially the same motor as used in the 1965 GT350 R Models, down to the stamped steel valve covers and single Holley 4 barrel. When car #23 was found in 1987, it had an original 1965 K-code serial numbered HiPo 289 motor. 1967 GT500 - SHELBYTRANSAM.COM The Car. Back in 1979, I took a job that supplied me with a Company Car. At the time, my daily driver was a 1972 Mach I. So I decided I didn't need a personal car SUSPENSION - SHELBYTRANSAM.COM The suspension of the 1966/67 Shelby Trans Am again mirrored the 1965 R model specification, which was based on the stock Ford Mustangunderpinning. 1965
INTERIOR - SHELBYTRANSAM.COM My car has what is probably a one-of-a-kind KodeKey tachometer. I don't recall the story behind it, I'll have to ask Joe Kramas next time. I left the interior in it's factory white, it should probably bepainted black.
