Any person who conducts any business, trade, profession, calling or occupation in the City is required to obtain a license whether or not the physical business address is in or outside the City. The Civil Service Commission plays a vital role in hearing employee appeals regarding disciplinary action and conducts proceedings required by the Civil Service Rules and Regulations. Meetings. The Civil Service Commission meets on an as-needed basis, usually in the evening. Apply for Commission. ADULT CENTER ACTIVITIES & CLUBS Meets at the Adult Recreation Center on the first Sunday of each month, 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. For information call Frank Chavez at (626)287-8648.
SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING Athens Services is the exclusive franchised solid waste hauler for all solid waste in the city. Athens provides residential service, commercial service, and temporary bin service. The Athens Services contract is administered by the Public Works Department, and the Finance Department. You can contact Athens Services at (888) 336-6100. RESOURCES FOR THE COMMUNITY Select San Gabriel services and businesses remain open for community members during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please support local businesses while still practicing safe distancing and Safer at Home directives from the County of Los Angeles. ONLINE RECREATION CENTER We have cancelled all in-person recreation youth, adult older adult and aquatics classes and programs through classes until then end of July 2020. They also retain a history of permit records for properties within the city. HISTORIC PRESERVATION The Los Angeles Conservancy is a member-based nonprofit organization devoted to preserving the architectural and cultural history of Los Angeles County, formed in the 1978. The Conservancy works through advocacy and education to raise awareness to find solutions for endangered historic resources.
