He was stunned at the sight of these unfortunate people in harness, in contrast to the elegant public promenading on the embankments. After two trips to the Volga and a direct acquaintance with many barge haulers, he painted this monumental canvas. One of the leading works CORNER COUNTER-RELIEF Corner Counter-Relief (with Cables) was first exhibited during the Last futuristic paintings exhibition “0.10” in Petrograd in 1915. This abstract volumetric and spatial composition was supposed to be perceived as a continuation and development of the Nonobjectivity idea. The same idea was previously expressed by Tatlin in his “painted reliefs” based on the combination PETER I (THE GREAT) INTERROGATING TSAREVICH ALEXEI Opposition to Petrine reforms stated in the Emperor’s family. His son from the first marriage, Tsarevich Alexei, made a stand against his father’s orders. However the conspiracy was unmasked and the Tsarevich fled abroad, but was returned to Russia at the order of Peter the Great. Russian Senate based on the Emperor’s consent sentenced him to death. To recreate this THE HEROISM OF LEONTY KORENOI, GRENADIER OF THE FINLAND Leontiy Korennoy took part in the battle of 1812 being in the Finland Life Gurds Regiment, in which there were the best and worthy soldiers. Korennoy fought bravely during the battle of Borodino, but it is for the events of 4th of October 1813, during the “Battle of the Nations” in Leipzig, that he has been the subject of Polidor Babaev’s painting. His battalion of Finland LEADER, TEACHER AND FRIEND (JOSEPH STALIN AT THE PRESIDIUM The painting was exhibited for the first time at the grandiose Industry of Socialism exhibition held concurrently with the 18th Bolshevik Party Congress. The event it depicts is the Second Congress of Collective Farm Shock Workers of February 1935, which ratified the Rules of the Agricultural Artel and proclaimed “socialism’s complete victory in the countryside”. The sound of different forms of laughter issuing from the painting captures the proud and independent natures of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. He was stunned at the sight of these unfortunate people in harness, in contrast to the elegant public promenading on the embankments. After two trips to the Volga and a direct acquaintance with many barge haulers, he painted this monumental canvas. One of the leading works PETER I (THE GREAT) INTERROGATING TSAREVICH ALEXEI Opposition to Petrine reforms stated in the Emperor’s family. His son from the first marriage, Tsarevich Alexei, made a stand against his father’s orders. However the conspiracy was unmasked and the Tsarevich fled abroad, but was returned to Russia at the order of Peter the Great. Russian Senate based on the Emperor’s consent sentenced him to death. To recreate this CORNER COUNTER-RELIEF Corner Counter-Relief (with Cables) was first exhibited during the Last futuristic paintings exhibition “0.10” in Petrograd in 1915. This abstract volumetric and spatial composition was supposed to be perceived as a continuation and development of the Nonobjectivity idea.
