BOOK REVIEWS FROM A READER ON THE GOGOODBYE AND HI

When I first started Roadside Reader, the name matched where I was in life. Constantly on the move, reading wherever and whenever I could. That was six years ago! Now, finding myself at a different point in life, I realized Roadside Reader simply isn’t reflective of myself or my brand. I felt stuck, wanting toREAD MORE

With a stunning cover and an interesting hook, I wondered if Dreamland by Nick Clausen, especially as it was a translation. That said, I fell absolutely in love with the story, so much so that I immediately sent the recommendation on Goodreads to my 12-and-and-a-half year old niece. It’s a very short novella, only 160 pages, but the writing is so well executed that the same piece of prose can evoke different emotions based on the reader’s experience/age; where a younger reader might find a ‘twist,’ older readers find unease at witnessing warning signs.READ MORE

When you know how something is going to end, you’d think you’d be prepared for it. Yet, The Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco still devastated me on numerous occasions. As the finale of The Bone Witch trilogy, Shadowglass finally has Tea’s past join the present and it broke my heart in the best and worst ways. Each character’s arc unfolds beautifully, loose ends are tied, and we finally understand what led to Tea’s downfall and exile.READ MORE

When I was approached to review the second half of the Raging Ones duology, I was beyond excited to jump on the opportunity. I remembered how much I loved the first book and how shocked I was at the ending. I worried if I’d get the answers I wanted, and if it would be satisfying. There was absolutely NO REASON TO WORRY! The Last Hope by Krista and Becca Ritchie was absolutely everything I could have asked for and more as a follow-up.READ MORE
