Chaps. Just a quick announcement to let you know that there is a programme on the TV coming up this week which some of you may like to watch or record. It is about how a British company manufactures an unskippable vinyl turntable. It is being broadcast on ITV4 on Thursday 6th May at 8.00pm. It should be worth watching. CRAZY AMAZON PRIME DELIVERY ROUTE Ordered some Vietnamese pho noodles om Amazon Prime, around $12 worth, here is the tracking: Sunday, February 7. 11:44 AM. Out for delivery.Poway, US.
HOLO MAY DAC
The May also does internal OS in either PCM or DSD at the click of a button (or remote). People say the NOS mode sounds better than the built in OS mode. External OS seems comparable to NOS with the choice being down to taste. I haven't tested, but with other DACs I've generally preferred computer OS to DAC OS.INTERCONNECT LENGTH
No, IME, I found myself in a situation where the only viable room layout was to have the speakers/ amp/ TV and digital along one wall and the TT quite far away across the room, I run the TT into the phonostage as normal and then used a set of 7m interconnects from the phonostage to the amp, no ill effects or degradation of sound quality whatsoever, both phonostage and amp were solid state. BUSTING THE MSG MYTH The "problem" is that MSG is everywhere - the Japanese guy was a trained biochemist and realised that his wife's stock was especially good, so set about isolating what ingredient X was - it was glutamic acid that was just part of the totally mundane everyday ingredients. Dac only, probably a good buy just still, but you need a power supply still for it, so that increases the costs. I for one would not buy one, even at £500, as its streamer side has been far left behind these days, and dont want the hassle or mess of having to add extra boxes to it, to get it work and stream, plus going forward its burr brown dac chips have just about run out, this may become PORTABLE DAP IN A HIFI SYSTEM When I got back into hifi a, couple of years ago I was utterly skint. I have been watching that (I grew up south of Manchester and was going out in the early 90s when these lads were very young indeed, but don't live there now), thought it was a good programme - I looked to see if it was on later and thought it must have been on Wednesdays. - NAIM CDI CD PLAYER I have decided to sell my Naim CDiit has the CDM4 laser and us currently being serviced by Naim. SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT THE NEW SPENDOR CLASSIC 4/5 I was trying to choose between a number of the modern ls3/5a types including the 4/5 for which there was almost no information. I also thought about the 3/1 as I like Spendor and could have gotten a decent price direct from a UK Dealer.NEW LINN STREAMER
Right back now , had a bit of a nod, if you can afford 30K, then that's fine, if you can't then that's fine too, i have a 20k cd player, some people like cars, some fast women, they all cost, price's in England are expensive, for hifi, I think relatively speaking when you open the box of a streamer you wonder where the money has gone, opposed to a big heavy amp, don't forget the dealer mark-up REGA IO | PAGE 7 | PINK FISH MEDIA The regs io dac used to partner the Jupiter transport. The May has arrived; first impressions: it’s awesome (of course). The tone and timbre is simply beautiful, yet nothing is sugar coatedand the DAC

2 BOX CROFT MEGA MICRO it is a very good preamp. I have the more modern looking Mega Micro II, haven't had a single PSU valve (there are 12) fail yet. preamp valves have failed, on the other hand, but those were all bought off Ebay (a bad idea I have come to realise). new JJ ECC99 and ECC83 installed by Glenn Croft probably do last a very long time. HARBETH VS TANNOY, PROAC AND SPENDOR Demoed both Harbeth shl5+ and the Eatons for a few weeks. Harbeth won hands down. Much more natural and open sounding. The Eatons have a punchy bass but don't go lower. LINN LAUNCH LINNCAST Hi, It would be good if they made a stand alone streamer, without that digital pre amp inside, so that it could be used with many different systems, and I assume would cost less than having the pre amp circuits and exakt stuff inside, just a plain simple streamer with built in DAC, like they used to make.INTERCONNECT LENGTH
