MEDICAL ONCOLOGY
Medical oncology is the treatment and management of cancer using medications. At the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, your medical oncologist will be a specialist cancer doctor who oversees your medical treatments and helps you manage your symptoms.RADIATION THERAPY
Radiation therapy, or radiotherapy, is a cancer treatment often used as part of a treatment plan alongside surgery and chemotherapy. Radiation therapy uses high energy X-rays to target and kill cancer cells. It works because cancer cells are more sensitive to radiationthan normal cells.
MRI-GUIDED RADIATION THERAPY The MR-Linac can take MRI scans before and while delivering radiation therapy to improve treatment. MRI scans provide high quality images. We can see different tissues in the body, and where a tumour ends and normal tissue begins. This allows us to better aim the ACRF CENTRE FOR IMAGING THE TUMOUR ENVIRONMENT Imaging the Tumour Environment. The ACRF Centre was founded through a $2 million grant from the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF). It is a state-of-the-art imaging centre established to understand how and why tumours corrupt the normal cells of the immediate micro-environment surrounding them. This means that you are welcome to receive care at the ONJ Centre after a referral from your doctor. GENETICS - FAMILY CANCER CLINIC| ONJ CANCER CENTRE an opportunity to discuss any concerns you have about your family history, genetic testing, or managing an increased cancer risk. Appointments last 45 minutes to an hour. You are welcome to bring a support person or a family member. If you are bringing a family member please contact our service beforehand. BREAST CANCER TREATMENT A team of doctors and nurses who specialise in the treatment of breast cancer will develop a treatment plan specifically for you. The treatment you receive may include surgery, radiation therapy and medical oncology treatments such as chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapies.
