TYPES OF ELECTIONS
The North Carolina State Board of Elections helps counties conduct elections across the state every year. These elections can be broadly divided into two categories: statewide general elections and GENERAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Candidates must: be at least 25 years of age and. have resided in the state as a citizen for two years and in the district for one year prior to the general election. A felony conviction need not be disclosed if the conviction was dismissed as a result of reversal on appeal or resulted in a pardon of innocence or expungement.
