Eating disorders are complex and affect all kinds of people. Risk factors for all eating disorders involve a range of biological, psychological, and sociocultural issues. These factors may interact differently in different people, so two people with the same eating disorder can have very diverse perspectives, experiences, andsymptoms.

Laxative abuse occurs when a person attempts to eliminate unwanted calories, lose weight, “feel thin,” or “feel empty” through the repeated, frequent use of laxatives. Often, laxatives are misused following eating binges, because the individual mistakenly believes that the laxatives will work to rush out food and calories before they can be absorbed — but that doesn’t really happen. Whether the eating disorder sufferer is unaware that there is a problem, they are afraid or ashamed to seek help, or they are ambivalent about giving up eating disorder behaviors, many sufferers find it difficult to seek help for their eating disorder. I thought providing some context for my situation would be a little important so hi, I'm a competitive swimmer and I struggled with BED and anorexia last summer, andPLEASE HELP
I’ve never used an online support group before. So I’m not really sure how this works but I’m desperate. I’ve been diagnosed with BED about 4 years ago. LOSS OF THIRST AND CRAVING SWEET SNACKS, CARBS, ETC So I haven't been hydrating lately. I haven't felt thirsty, and my energy is really low. I met a new Messaging pal on a web site a weekor so ago.

Everyone’s eating disorder struggle looks and feels different. The same thing could be said about body hate and weight stigma. For me, weight and body image triggers go hand in hand. For the most part, I’m grateful because my eating disorder didn’t really intrude on my body image or weight. Even though my ED has led me to and through abusive relationships, toxic work environments, self-sabotage and hair pulling -- it hasn’t really had as much impact on my perception of my weight and body image, at least that’s what I thought.Read more >
