THE PRESIDENT OFFICE Notifications, orders and announcements Under SECTION 65 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), The President and the Vice-Presidents shall make an affirmation as follows : “I ........... do solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will be loyal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the citizens and hold always in esteem non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty. Under SECTION 447 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), Existing rules, regulations, by-laws, notifications, orders, directives and procedures shall remain in operation in so far as they are not contrary to this Constitution until and unless they are repealed or amended by theUnion Government.
Any notifications, orders and announcements are made by the President’s office according to the relevant provisions of theConstitution.
LAWS AND REGULATIONSCONSTITUTIONS
Under SECTION 46 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), “The Basic Principles of the Union shall be the guidance in enacting laws by legislature and in interpreting the provisions of this Constitution and other laws”. Under SECTION 449 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), « this Constitution is THE BASIC LAW of all the laws of the Union ». You can find 1947 Constitution, 1974 Constitution and 2008 Constitution in English. These translations are the best you can find. BURMA CODES AND OTHER LAWS Under SECTION 446 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), "existing laws shall remain in operation in so far as they are not contrary to this Constitution until and unless they are repealed or amended by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw". Under SECTION 447 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), "existing rules, regulations, by-laws, notifications, orders, directives and procedures shall remain in operation in so far as they are not contrary to this Constitution until and unless they are repealed or amended by theUnion Government".
Most of the provisions of Burma Codes are still in force. After 1946, Parliamentary Acts were written in English. After 1962, Revolutionary Council Laws were written in Burmese. Under SECTION 13 (3) OF BURMA LAW ACT OF 1898, in cases not provided for by sub-section (1), or by any other enactment for the time being in force, the decision shall be according to justice, equity and goodconscience.
After 1968, all the Case Law were written in Burmese.INTERNATIONAL LAW
Under SECTION 209 OF THE CONSTITUTION (2008), the President, in accordance with the law : * (a) shall enter into, ratify or annul international, regional or bilateral treaties which require the approval of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, or revoke from such treaties ; * (b) may enter into, ratify or annul international, regional or bilateral treaties which do not require the approval of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, or revoke from such treaties.
