A Justice of the Peace (JP) is a person of unquestionable integrity who seeks to promote and protect the rights of individuals and helps to give justice to those persons in a particular community.The Ministry of Justice, provides supervision for the various processes involved in the appointment of Justices of the Peace and ensures that records are accurately maintained. MINISTER'S (MARRIAGE) LICENCE ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED? Need to obtain a Minister’s Licence . The Minister’s Licence is granted by the Minister of Justice giving authority to a Marriage Officer to marry a couple (man and woman), in Jamaica, in keeping with the Marriage Act. WHAT IS EXPUNGEMENT? Expungement of Criminal Records. Expungement is essentially having a conviction removed from one’s criminal/police record after a specific period of time has elapsed and after certain requirements have been met.
