HOW TO CLEAR UP A SLUGGISH DRAIN FAST This is a classic homemade drain cleaner. Start by pouring ⅓ of a cup to 1 cup of dry baking soda down the drain. Try to send the baking soda as far down the drain as you can. Then, follow the baking soda with an equivalent amount of vinegar. The vinegar should react with WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR AC UNIT WON’T TURN ON Find your main electrical service panel and look for tripped breakers. The tripped breaker will be shifted down to the “OFF” position rather than the “ON” position, and may also be indicated by a red warning label. Simply flip the circuit breaker back on and see if 8 QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE INSTALLING INGROUND POOLS It has been estimated that there are just over ten million residential swimming pools in the United States. Of those, over one million are found in California. If you’ve ever seen Joseph Lee’s, “Big Atlas of LA Pools,” you’ll know that there are forty-three thousand of those pools in the Los Angeles Basin alone! With California’s multi-year long drought over, our state’s love for WHERE DOES LOS ANGELES GET ITS WATER? The 242 mile Colorado River Aqueduct (CRA) has been delivering water to Southern California for over 70 years. As it flows south, the Colorado river drains water from Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. Eventually, the Colorado River–and all the water it’s transporting–deposits into Lake Havasu in Arizona. HOW TO UNCLOG YOUR GARAGE FLOOR DRAIN How do I unclog my garage floor drain? Remove the grate. Depending on the type of grate, you may have to unscrew it from the floor before manual removal. Remove any physical debris. Because your garage floor drain is located outdoors, it’s likely to have more gunk than other drains. This can include leaves, dirt, animal hair, and more. 4 REASONS YOUR AIR CONDITIONER WON’T WORK Air filters work by “catching” dirt, dust, and other contaminants in your home’s air as the HVAC cycles the air through it. Over time, air filters become clogged with the contaminants they’re catching. Clogs reduce effectiveness and may eventually cause an airflow problem. If the AC won’t work properly, one of the first things you WHAT TO DO AFTER PUTTING DISH SOAP IN YOUR DISHWASHER Before you go in to clear out the pipes and drain, you’re going to have more sopping up to do. Open the dishwasher after it finishes its initial draining. Take all the dishes still inside the dishwasher out and move them into the sink. Rinse off the dishes in the sink to remove any scummy residue that might have clung to them during theoverflow.
HOW TO USE A PLUMBER’S SNAKE/DRAIN SNAKE THE RIGHT WAY Plumber’s snakes work by entering the drain directly to physically contact and then clear away the obstruction causing the clog. You manually insert the auger head into the drain and then begin uncoiling it by rotating the handle. As the snake uncoils, it moves further through the drainpipe, until the head breaks through the obstruction. 4 SIGNS YOUR DISHWASHER HAS CLOGGED Dishwashers make noise. We know this. Dishes can rattle around, there’s the sound of water running, and so on. These sounds are normal. However, sometimes there are other sounds that are of a more ominous nature. Loud humming, shaking, or thumping can be a sign that there is an issue within the pump or a clog in the valves. HOW AIR CONDITIONING WORKS Stuart Cramer invented a ventilation device around the same time that was used in textile plants to distribute cool vapor to hot air. He was also the person to coin the term “air conditioning.” In 1925 he invented a more efficient version of his device for a movie theater.CUSTOMER REVIEWS
May 15, 2021 by richard (CA, United States) “We have had numerous plumbing issues over the last 20 years. We hired at least 5 different companies, with varied results. About 3 years ago we called Mike Diamond who gave us fast, excellent service. Some of the calls were for minor problems; others were more serious. THE FOUR DIFFERENT KINDS OF SINK FAUCET Compression faucets. Compression faucets are the oldest of the four types. All compression faucets have separate, turnable handles for hot and cold water. You tighten and untighten these handles manually by rotating them to let water flow out of the faucet. Untightening the faucet handle starts the water, and tightening it again stops thewater.
HOW CAN I FIX A LOOSE ELECTRICAL OUTLET? Since we use electrical outlets nonstop every day, it’s easy to forget how dangerous they can be. All that separates us from the dangerous, high-voltage electrical currents flowing through our wires is a hard plastic shell. If your outlets ever look loose, it’s very important to fix it right away. HOW TO FIX A TOILET THAT WON'T FLUSH Flush the toilet with the tank open and watch the water drain into the bowl and fill back up. If the tube stops adding water before the float reaches the fill line, then your toilet won’t be able to perform a full flush. Adjust the float by moving its position on the arm that connects it to the refill tube. HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SUMP PUMP CORRECTLY Reconnect your pump. Connect the pump back to the discharge pipe and check valve. Plug it back in. It’ll be shiny, clean, and good to go. Having a sump pump is a regular part of many homeowner’s plumbing. If you have one and want it checked out or don’t have one and are interested in installation, give Mike Diamond a call. HOW TO UNCLOG YOUR SHOWER DRAIN First, pour a cup of baking soda into your drain. Wait a few minutes and then pour a cup of vinegar down. Give the two time to mix – an hour or two is preferable. Follow this up with more boiling water to clear any remaining material. The two combine to create a fizzing reaction that can clear clogs. Well sometimes. FOUR REASONS YOUR BATHROOM SINK IS CLOGGING Hair. Hair is the most common reason why bathroom sinks clog. It’s the perfect drain clogging material. Hair clumps together when wet. Pipes walls catch those clumps on their way down. The more pressure the water in your drain exerts on hair, the harder it will clump together. Wet hair in your drain collects more wet hair, until thegross
