INTRODUCING CODE EDITION 19 The newly launched Code of Conduct Edition 19 is the next stage in our continued efforts to strive for best practice, giving you the confidence to innovate and make meaningful connections with the best interest of patient communities at heart. Edition 19 was adopted by Medicines Australia member companies on Tuesday 26 November. CLINICAL TRIAL RESEARCH AGREEMENTS Consulting with Medicines Australia’s stakeholders and discussion with the SEBS Committee, four Clinical Trial Research Agreements have been revised and updated. From these discussions it was also evident that an additional Agreement was required for Phase 4 Clinical Trials where a Contract Research Organisation is acting as the Local Sponsor. CODE RESOURCE TOOLKIT The Toolkit provides insight both into the experiences of the Code of Conduct, Appeals and Monitoring Committees and the deliberations of Medicines Australia and its members when developing amendments to the Code of Conduct. This Toolkit will be continually augmented as issues are raised by members or other interested people. PHARMA AUSTRALIA INCLUSION GROUP (PAIG Pharma Australia Inclusion Group (PAIG) is a special interest group of Medicines Australia. Clinical trials provide patients with access to new and potentially life-savings medicines. In 2019, there were 1,820 ongoing trials in Australia: a 22% increase on 2015. This contributes an estimated $1.1 billion a year to the economy. TRAINING – MEDICINES AUSTRALIA Required Training. The Code of Conduct requires that all sales representatives, and any person who reviews and approves promotional materials for healthcare professionals or educational materials for consumers, as well as anyone who directly interacts with healthcare professionals, are trained to an adequate standard. CODE RESOURCE TOOLKIT The Toolkit provides insight both into the experiences of the Code of Conduct, Appeals and Monitoring Committees and the deliberations of Medicines Australia and its members when developing amendments to the Code of Conduct.
