HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT GATHERING I want to create a gathering of women in my life who are amazing people with a lot on their plates and remind them how amazing they are and the great things they are doing in the world. I want to empower them to recognize the strengths they have and realize they are using them daily to enhance the lives of everyone around them, especiallyme.

This is all you need. Two cups of powdered sugar, one cup of cocoa powder, a half cup dry milk, and one teaspoon of salt. Then a mason jar to keep it all in. Pretty much all you do is combine all the ingredients in the mason jar and you’re good to go. The temps are hitting the high 90s and above, and I'm starting to feel like I'm in the tropics. It's time to cool off with the sprinklers and maybe a few water balloons. We've been doing this routine for a few weeks now, but now I think it's time to do something a little different with the water balloons. What if we fill them with paint and do a few art projects! HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CATNIP FILLED CAT TOYS I love my cat. Anyone who really knows me, knows this to be true. He's an extremely important part of my life and one of my best friends. It's a challenge I wanted to work on since skipping lunch isn't an option for me and I don't want to feel dread thinking about lunch. Doing the same thing over and over for lunch is where I've become burned out on the same old stuff. If you suffer from lunch menu fatigue too I have a list of ways to spruce up your lunch break. WRITING LETTERS TO SOLDIERS: ADOPTED SOLDIER EDITION Remember, your letter doesn’t have to be extremely long to be meaningful. Tip number 2: Include the soldier in the letter to help make a connection. This can be as simple as asking a question related to what you’re talking about, just like I did in the above example by asking if the recipient liked baseball too. HOW TO PEEL AND DESEED TOMATOES How to peel tomatoes. First, hull your tomatoes. That just means take the stem and core out. I do mine with a really sharp knife. I just put it in at a 45 degree angle close to the stem then cut around at that angle making sure to go deep enough to cut the core from the inside. Next cut a shallow x shape in the opposite side of your tomato. HOMEMADE SPAGHETTI SAUCE WITH GARDEN FRESH TOMATOES Every year I do my best to grow a plethora of tomatoes for canning purposes. A few years ago I decided to try making some fresh, homemade spaghetti sauce. I've made some mistakes along the way, however I've learned from them and now I have this easy and delicious homemade spaghetti sauce recipe for you using garden fresh tomatoes! RUNZA CASSEROLE WITH POLSKA KIELBASA This recipe is too good not to share, and I've been wanting to share it for awhile now. This time around I decided to pick up some Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa. As a nod to the community I grew up in, which was largely of Polish ancestry, a Polish sausage, which is the translation of Polska Kielbasa, was often served with cooked cabbage. It's time to cool off with the sprinklers and maybe a few water balloons. We've been doing this routine for a few weeks now, but now I think it's time to do something a little different with the water balloons. What if we fill them with paint and do a few art projects! GET YOUR SHARK MOTIVATION ONby Mary Leave a

Motivation strikes at some of the strangest times. In the past couple of months the strikes have been few and far between. Often when my motivation is lacking I tend to play on social media or binge watch Netflix. It turns out, both of those things were beneficial to me in more ways than one….Read More

One of the biggest lessons my girls learn is that we aren’t doing these acts of kindness for a reward. We do good things because it’s the right thing to do. With that said, a sign of gratitude is always appreciated and well received. I participate in American Family Insurance DreamKeep Rewards program. One of my favorite activity sections they offer is the Do Good Things section. Do Good Things falls in line with my life philosophy of kindness. Also, it’s filled with things I already do on a regular basis to make the world a better place. Since I’m doing these actions anyway I might as well get rewarded for them too.Sharing is caring!

Filed Under: Positive Inspiration BIG DREAMS: BEGINNING OUR BACKYARD MAKEOVERby Mary 2 Comments
Last week we started in on our next big dream. Taking our backyard to the next level! Not just any backyard makeover, I’m talking one that will accomplish everything we need it to do. We’ve always had some things in our backyard, but none of it was really planned. It was mostly just a project here or there. As an example, here’s a random painted bench next to our rhubarb, with raspberry canes in the background and a bunny waiting for her next snack from the garden. As I mentioned. Random. No focus.Sharing is caring!

Positive Inspiration 1001 BOOKS TO READ BEFORE I DIE (AND THEN SOME)by Mary 1 Comment
Inspired by Peter Boxall’s 1001 Books: You Must Read Before You Die, at the beginning of 2018 I decided to create my own list of books to read. What amazed me the most is just by creating this list I gained quite a bit of inspiration and historical insight. That’s something I wasn’t expecting, but made me even more excited to read some of these books. This list contains both fiction and nonfiction selections I’m interested in reading for one reason or another. Many were recommendations from friends or books that won some kind of award. Some of the books on the list will be books I’ve read in the past, but want to read again to see if I glean anything new from them now that I’m older and hopefully wiser. All of the books are of interest to me. You’ll notice a good deal of psychology, philosophy and science books on the list.Sharing is caring!

It’s time to take on the extra baggage around the house and start getting rid of some things, finding new homes for others, and putting a stop to the unfinished projects around the house.
