NIKON Z60 AND Z70 APS-C Z-MOUNT: WHY NIKON MIGHT WIN THE Sony is the clear leader in the mirrorless full-frame camera market at the moment, and although they have recently lost market share to Canon and Nikon, it is likely the result of an expansion of the market rather than a drop in units shipped by Sony. For over five years, Sony has been updating and refining their A7 and A9 mirrorless camera lines and building up a respectable collection of GOOD ALL AROUND: TAMRON 35-150 F/2.8-4 VC OSD REVIEW Review: Tamron 35-150 f/2.8-4 VC Tamron’s new 35-150mm f/2.8-4 lens is attractive because it doesn’t try to do too much, but still covers a useful zoom range at moderately wide apertures. As a result, it’s moderately inexpensive and moderately compact. But of course, these days we want better than moderately-good image quality and AF performance, even on third party lenses. SONY A6100 VS A6400: WHICH SHOULD YOU BUY? Sony’s brand new a6100 is a full featured camera with a pro-level sensor, but was released into an already crowded Sony camera lineup, and is priced at only $150 or so below the impressive a6400. With Sony, it can be hard to keep track of all of the differences between models, and hard to decide which to buy. Let me simplify things. First, here’s a quick chart of the significant LENS COMPARISON: TAMRON 24-70 F/2.8 G2 VS CANON 24-70 F/2 How Does the Tamron G2 Compare to the Canon? If you’ve seen my video comparing the Canon and the original Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC USD, you know that they were already very closely matched lenses. With the improvements made in the Tamron G2, how do they compare now? You can see all of the details in the video above, but I’ll summarize it quickly like this: when it comes to image quality, the CANON SPEEDLITE 430EZ : REVIEW FOR STROBISTS Canon Speedlite 430EZ : General Features For a long while in the early 1990s, this was one of the top of the line Canon flashes for the EOS system cameras. Because of the different focal length ranges and maximum apertures, getting comparable images was difficult. I started shooting for it in July of 2015, and finished in late winter of 2016. PNY PRO ELITE MICROSD CARDS: ARE THEY GOOD? In the chart above, higher is better. The take away from all of this is that when it comes to sustained read speeds, all of the cards are pretty similar, but the new PNY Pro Elite cards are dramatically faster than the others tested here at random read and write speeds, and the older PNY Elite cards perform miserably in that category. The Sony A7C camera is, in many ways, a blending of two current product lines using the Sony E-mount: it has most of the internals of the two-year-old full frame A7iii, but a body more closely resembling the APS-C A6600. As such, the A7C should not be seen as a replacement for the A7iii. Sony claims that this camera is the first in a newproduct line.

BIRDING AT FORT DESOTO PARK There are many places here in Florida that I like to go to photograph birds and wildlife, but Ft. DeSoto Park is probably my favorite. Ft. DeSoto Park is a Pinellas County park located on Mullet Key, just south of Tierra Verde, Florida. Ft DeSoto itself was built in 1898 during the Spanish American war, and its remains can still be found there today. There are many things to do at Ft. The Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 ART and Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 for Sony-E mount both produce sharp, crisp images from center to edge, though they’re not exactly equals. The two lenses both have their strengths, and each will be best suited for particular types of photographers. REVIEW: THE LOUPEDECK CT CONTROL SURFACE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY The Loupedeck CT is a USB-attached controller for photo and video editing, and for the past three months, I’ve been testing one out, doing my best to get familiar with it and use it enough to give it a meaningful review. I’ve found that there are some things that I really like about it, along with some annoyances and design concerns. The Loupedeck CT probably isn’t for everyone, but some THOMAS SHAHAN & MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY When most of us think of amazing wildlife photography, we think of African safaris involving massive, white telephoto lenses that cost as much as a car. Thomas Shahan has found another method, though, and his images are equally striking. LENS TEST: SIGMA 24-70 F/2.8 ART VS CANON 24-70 F/2.8L II In general, the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 ART’s resolution was excellent in the center of the lens. Depending on the the light and conditions, it was sometimes on par with the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II comparison unit, though no better. However, away from the center, resolution was often quite bad. Take a look, starting at the 70mm end of the zoom range. For over five years, Sony has been updating and refining their A7 and A9 mirrorless camera lines and building up a respectable collection of GOOD ALL AROUND: TAMRON 35-150 F/2.8-4 VC OSD REVIEWTAMRON 35 1 8TAMRON 35 150 F2 8 4TAMRON 35 2 8TAMRON 35 1 4TAMRON 35 150 FOR NIKON Review: Tamron 35-150 f/2.8-4 VC Tamron’s new 35-150mm f/2.8-4 lens is attractive because it doesn’t try to do too much, but still covers a useful zoom range at moderately wide apertures. As a result, it’s moderately inexpensive and moderately compact. But of course, these days we want better than moderately-good image quality and AF performance, even on third party lenses. LENS COMPARISON: CANON 50MM F/1.4 VS Lens Comparison: Canon 50mm f/1.4 vs Canon 50mm f/1.2L Every photographer should have a 50mm lens, and Canon offers versions with prices ranging from just over $100 to over $1500, a pretty dramatic difference. In this review, I’ll be looking at the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4L USM. The Canon 50mm f/1.4 currently costs at Amazon.com or $349 at B&H Photo. BEST 70-200MM LENSES FOR CANON : COMPARISON Which 70-200 Lens Should I Buy? A Quick Guide With the release of Canon’s latest offering, the EF 70-200 f2.8 USM IS II, Canon has at least 5 pro-quality lenses in the same focal length range. If you include the original EF 80-200 f2.8 from the 1990s (now discontinued, but still available used), the count is up to 6. CANON SPEEDLITE 430EZ : REVIEW FOR STROBISTS Canon Speedlite 430EZ : General Features For a long while in the early 1990s, this was one of the top of the line Canon flashes for the EOS system cameras. Consequently, they’re well built, reliable, and very intuitive to use. I purchased this unit back in 1994, but they can now be found (used) for $50-75 or less (check Ebay for currentavailability).

As the smallest and least powerful member of the company’s Witstro lineup, the AD100Pro offers more features and better performances than a typical hotshoe flash. First, here’s a quick chart of the significant THOMAS SHAHAN & MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY When most of us think of amazing wildlife photography, we think of African safaris involving massive, white telephoto lenses that cost as much as a car. Thomas Shahan has found another method, though, and his images are equally striking. His work has been featured in a variety of magazines and publications, including The National Geographic, Popular Photography, and NBC’s “Today Show”. THOMAS SHAHAN & MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY Thomas Shahan Phidippus regius. Shahan: Yeah, this has been a relatively new thing that has popped up, because macro photography is kind of a tough thing to teach; so much of it is just trial and error, and you get lucky from time to time and you get a cool shot.
