I love this story that my mom Frieda is sharing today! When we came back to the States after four years in Central America, I was excited to go shopping at a big mall in Dallas. My cousin had invited me, and each of us took along our four-year-old daughter. My Sara was the eldest of three, and I thought CYPRESS POINTE RESORT 3 BEDROOM 3 BATHROOM ORLANDO Cypress Pointe Resort in Orlando, Florida was amazing and we couldn’t be happier. It is perfectly located near Disney, Universal, and Sea World. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo for $349 including tax for a full week! There were two master suites. This is the first one that is called a lock off because it can be rentedindependently
CLASSICAL CONVERSATIONS COMMUNITY REVIEW Last year as a part of our homeschooling, we used the Classical Conversations curriculum and attended a weekly community, where I alsotutored.

BAKED BEANS RECIPE
I think of this as Mom’s recipe for baked beans, because I learned to make them from watching her. Over the years though, I think I’ve changed it and made it my own. People have asked me for the recipe many times and that was always a problem, because I’ve always just dumped ingredients and…7 Comments

COVID-19 HOMESCHOOL DAY–THE WORST! If you were thrown into the world of homeschool with your kids with the Covid-19 stay home orders, you probably have spent some time pulling your hair out. I get it. I have too! Homeschooling doesn’t mean social distancing or staying home. While some have the idea that homeschooling means something similar to these lock-down…Leave a Comment

FIRST BOYFRIEND: FUNNY MOMENTS My dad told me I couldn’t date until I was eighteen. This was always the magic age when I was growing up. Only he didn’t quite do the math because he was thinking that I would be in college, but I was eighteen my whole senior year of high school. So although therewere a…

MY BEST POT OF MEXICAN BEANS RECIPE It’s Cinco de Mayo! You just have to start every great Mexican meal with a fabulous pot of beans. For years I wasn’t happy with my Mexican beans recipe. One day I told my mom that mine just never taste as good as the beans I ate at home growing up or in theValley,…

SONG IN MY HEAD
Do you always have a song in your head? I can’t say there’s a song playing in my mind at all times, but much of the time there is, even though I don’t realize it. Things that happen or things I think about, tend to inadvertently produce a song in my head, that attimes…

SELF-QUARANTINE CELEBRATIONS DURING COVID-19 STAY HOME ORDERS I will forever remember 2020 as the year the world shut down! It has been surreal, no? Our day-to-day life has seemed to go on much like normal, since we homeschool anyway. Of course, the kids had activities and classes every day of the week that have all been moved online, canceled, or postponed like…Leave a Comment

STRAWBERRY PRETZEL SALAD Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a tradition at our house! Jason’s grandma Delores introduced me to this dish. She served it every Easter. I am not a huge fan of Jello ordinarily so I didn’t expect to like it all that well, but I loved it. In fact Grandma served it as part of the meal,…7 Comments

BAKING MY HUSBAND’S FIRST BIRTHDAY CAKE FROM ME When we first got married, I was teaching full time and taking six graduate hours each semester, while my husband was finishing his degree. So two years later when my husband took his first job, I was able to stay home and focus my efforts on being a wife and homemaker. We didn’t have any…5 Comments

FAMILY CAMP IN GLORIETA NEW MEXICO Family camp had been on my bucket list since my eldest was a toddler. Every year I’d Google “Family Camps,” but for one reason or another it never worked out. One day last year, I received a message on Instagram from a former student of mine. She had been following my social media and told…11 Comments
