We understand that preschoolers learn through movement, participation, dramatic-play, singing, dancing, and most importantly, playing hard! Our curriculum offers a wide spectrum of skills to meet and build on every child's individualized needs. For literacy and handwriting, we use Handwriting Without Tears and Wilson Fundations. We feel that math instruction is vital in the early years. Numbers should be a joyful part of children's classroom experiences as much as blocks and puzzles. That is why we use Numbers and Math written by Handwriting Without Tears for a fun and successful math program. No matter the resource, we help develop creative thinking and the desire to love to learn. Most importantly, our goal is to make your child feel loved, happy, safe and secure. This week the children enjoyed learning about jungles and rainforest. We discussed the difference between the two as well as learned about different animals and plants that live there. We had fun singing new songs, watching education videos, and reading fiction and non-fiction books. Dramatic play was transformed into a “Safari Hunt”. The children are using their great imaginations pretending to look for jungle animals with maps and binoculars. They have made very cute toucans, lions, monkeys

and giraffes.

In literacy, our new letter this week was Mm. We had many laughs with this letter. We all had to think of new words to say, but in a “Monster Voice”. The children were so tickled hearing. We also played a game, Mr. Munch, “a dressed- up Trashcan” who would only munch words that had the Mm sound. The children also enjoyed pretending to be monkeys when they heard the /M/ sound. It has become somewhat of a contest to see who can come up with the most creative words using our letter sound. It was a super silly week and a lot of learning happened through laughs and smiles. We introduced hearing the ending sound of different words. The children did a wonderful job with this first-time activity. In math, we practiced recognizing quantities up to six at a glance using ten frames and dice. As a review, we threw in comparing sets of objects using more and fewer. The children are working hard to form numerals correctly. We are proud. We will continue to learn about the jungle next week. Our new letter will be Nn. We will have the number 10 and our new sight words _are is & down. _Stay tuned in the following weeks for some “Leprechaun
