Japan-US Friendship Comission (JUSFC) 1201 15th St. NW, Suite 330, Washington, DC 20005 (202) 653-9800 • jusfc@jusfc.gov HISTORY OF THE COMMISSION The Japan United States Friendship Commission (JUSFC) was established as an independent agency by the US Congress in 1975 (P.L. 94-118). The Commission administers a US government trust fund that originated in connection with the return to the Japanese government of certain US facilities in Okinawa and for postwar American assistance to Japan. Income from the fund is APPLYING FOR AN INSTITUTIONAL GRANT Selection Criteria JUSFC’s mission is to raise awareness about the importance of the U.S.-Japan relationship. Commissioners will evaluate projects based on their proposed ability to advance JUSFC’ mission by contributing to U.S.-Japan relations. The agency seeks applications from organizations that represent the rich diversity of the United States and Japan, and make a commitment to U.S.-JAPAN CREATIVE ARTISTS PROGRAM UPDATE In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and resulting travel restrictions, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) are pausing the application process for the 2021-2022 U.S.-Japan Creative Artists Program until further notice.
