LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF EARLY ADOLESCENT MARIJUANA USE ON Objective:This study sought to examine the prospective effects of early adolescent marijuana use on late adolescent attentional and inhibitory control. Alcohol use, antisocial problems, and gender SOCIAL COGNITIVE MODERATORS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A total of 385 participants (drinkers and nondrinkers; mean age = 20.98, SD = 2.35; 65% female; 81% born in Australia), completed an online survey measuring alcohol consumption, alcohol-related harms, social anxiety, anticipated social outcomes, and controlled drinking self-efficacy. Regressions examined the interactive effects of social anxiety, anticipated social outcomes, and controlled ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION, SLEEP, AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AMONG Objective: Three independent lines of inquiry have found associations between alcohol use and academic performance, sleep and academic performance, and alcohol use and sleep. Challenging perceptions about peer substance use has become the basis of a form of prevention and intervention known as the social norms approach, which can be delivered using personalized online feedback. SOCIAL AND COPING REASONS FOR DRINKING: PREDICTING ALCOHOL Objective: Motivational models of alcohol consumption suggest a positive relationship between reasons for drinking and the amount of alcohol consumed. The present study examined race, gender, and age as moderators of the relationship between social and coping motives and alcohol misuse in black and white adolescents.
