Also more information on my speaking JOHN RESIG - RESEARCH Digital Humanities Research. In 2013 I started publishing research on using technology to improve humanities research and study. Primarily I’ve been interested in applying computer vision techniques to improve art history study. JOHN RESIG - HOW JAVASCRIPT TIMERS WORK On the browser-difference’s front, one of the quirks that was fun to learn, is that some browsers (notably IE 6) can treat some asynchronous XHR requests as synchronous, if and when the response is available in the local browser cache. JOHN RESIG - ASM.JS: THE JAVASCRIPT COMPILE TARGET Like many developers I’ve been excited by the promise of Asm.js.Reading the recent news that Asm.js is now in Firefox nightly is what got my interest going. There’s also been a massive surge in interest after Mozilla and Epic announced that they had ported Unreal Engine 3 to Asm.js – and that it JOHN RESIG - WRITE CODE EVERY DAY Last fall, work on my coding side projects came to a head: I wasn’t making adequate progress and I couldn’t find a way to get more done without sacrificing my ability to do effective work at Khan Academy.. There were a few major problems with how I was working on my side projects. I was primarily working on them during the weekends and sometimes in the evenings during the week. JOHN RESIG - ANONYMOUS PROXY LIST This application scrapes the excellent anonymous proxy list available at Proxy 4 Free (I use to use Stay Invisible), filters them, and renders them appropriately for most applications. For example, the SwitchProxy extension to Firefox plays nicely with this.. I’ve made a copy of the program available for all to use, to which the querystring options are:
JOHN RESIG - PURE JAVASCRIPT HTML PARSER Recently I was having a little bit of fun and decided to go about writing a pure JavaScript HTML parser. Some might remember my one project, env.js, which ported the native browser JavaScript features to the server-side (powered by Rhino). One thing that was lacking from that project was an HTML parser (it parsed strict XML only). JOHN RESIG - JAVASCRIPT FUZZ TESTING Fuzz testing is incredibly cool. Essentially, you throw random data at a program, seeing how it responds. This has a broad range of applicability, especially so in the world of security (finding fringe cases that the program authors didn’t cover, leading to exploits). JOHN RESIG - PROJECTS Projects. I’m constantly working on new projects, whether at my day job at Khan Academy, or in my spare time on Ukiyo-e.org or other Digital Humanities projects. This page should serve as a list of most publicly-accessible projects that I’ve worked on since 2011. JOHN RESIG - RESEARCH Digital Humanities Research. In 2013 I started publishing research on using technology to improve humanities research and study. Primarily I’ve been interested in applying computer vision techniques to improve art history study. JOHN RESIG - KHAN ACADEMY Projects » Khan Academy. I started working at Khan Academy in May 2011 and still happily work there today! I’ve worked on many different areas of the site including web frontend performance, build tools, internationalization (i18n), and accessibility (a11y). RESULTS - JOHNRESIG.COM Results. Here is an example of the program producing an optimal solution.A good idea for future programs, if you know the optimal solution (and you are looking for the way to get the solution using GAs) then you can have the program stop once it finds the optimal solution by setting the populationIndex variable equal to the maxGenerations variable. JOHN RESIG - SIMPLE JAVASCRIPT INHERITANCE I’ve been doing a lot of work, lately, with JavaScript inheritance – namely for my work-in-progress JavaScript book – and in doing so have examined a number of different JavaScript classical-inheritance-simulating techniques. Out of all the ones that I’ve looked at I think my favorites were the implementations employed by base2 and Prototype.. I wanted to go about extracting thesoul

JOHN RESIG - INJECTING WORD BREAKS WITH JAVASCRIPT @DrSlump: Above I linked to the Quirksmode page for the wbr tag where he outlines the different solutions. Could you verify that it works correctly in IE6? As far as compilation is concerned it’s only occurring once per call (trivial) and unless you’re caching it for every single word width that may be called, I’m not sure what thebenefit would be.
JOHN RESIG - PROCESSING.JS TOWER DEFENSE John, great find. I actually had been toying with the idea of a JS tower defense with a coworker of mine yesterday, and today I saw yourblog entry.
JOHN RESIG - HTML 5 DATA- ATTRIBUTES A new feature being introduced in HTML 5 is the addition of custom data attributes. This is a, seemingly, bizarre addition to the specification – but actually provides a number of useful benefits.* Home
