ABOUT IVY – IVY'S GLIDE GAIT About Ivy. My name is Ivy Schexnayder (pronounced shex-snyder). I live in Winslow, Illinois and my dream has always been to help gaited horse owners to be able to get a smooth gait with their horses. I have been training gaited horses for over 12 years. PACING TO GAITING SMOOTHLY: HOW TO USE POLES The goal is to get the horse to change the pattern of his footfalls. For many horses, this just means getting them to have to move their feet differently to avoid stepping on the poles. For taller horses, use poles that are farther apart. I used to space poles out only 3-4 feet apart, but now I recommend starting with poles 8-10 feet apart.IVY'S GLIDE GAIT

I believe in training gaited horses to gait as smoothly as possibly while helping them stay as relaxed as possible. PRODUCTS – IVY'S GLIDE GAIT My daughter and I love your website Her horse is a 15 year old Spotted saddle horse and he is ALL pace. Your site makes soo much more senseto us than others.
WHY DOESN’T MY HORSE GAIT!? This is the most common question I get. “If my horse is bred to gait, why does he pace/trot!?” I like to think of a sports analogy. There are those few people out there who excel at sports. THE BEST BIT FOR THE GAITED HORSE Okay, I admit it, there is no one bit for that works best for every gaited horse. However, I am going to list a few bits that I like and I am going to talk about why the bit doesn’t really matter too much in the end, except for the horse’s comfort.HORSES FOR SALE

ABOUT IVY – IVY'S GLIDE GAIT I have been training gaited horses for over 12 years. I started out with the idea that you could train any gaited horse to gait on a loose rein, preferably with a snaffle or simple bitless bridle/hackamore. PACING TO GAITING SMOOTHLY: HOW TO USE POLES I use ground poles to help break up a pacey horse’s lateral gait. Pacey means the two legs on one side swing forward together or nearly together. Many gaited horses tend to the pacey or lateral type of gaits. This is often caused by tense horses, but even relaxed horses can be pacey. Once weIVY'S GLIDE GAIT
