RELIGION - INTERFAITH IMMIGRATION COALITION Our Faiths Call Us to Welcome Refugees and Immigrants Washington, DC – Ahead of Ash Wednesday, the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC) is releasing a booklet of nine Lenten reflections to guide individuals and congregations seeking to review how our faith-based values require us to demand a just and humane immigration system. SUMMARY: IIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE BIDEN-HARRIS The Interfaith Immigration Coalition offers these recommendations for initial steps for the Biden-Harris administration to take in reforming executive branch immigration policies; decolonizing the U.S. role abroad; and passing immigration laws in Congress. REFUGEES - INTERFAITH IMMIGRATION COALITION Washington, DC – Repeal and strengthen, heal and transform. “This is the path to a new paradigm for U.S. immigration policy, one that centers human dignity rather than repression, coercion, and control,” said Peniel Ibe, Policy Engagement Coordinated with the American Friends Service Committee and Co-Director of the Interfaith Immigration Coalition. BIDEN MUST KEEP PROMISE TO REFUGEES The only way forward is for President Biden to restore the U.S. refugee resettlement program by welcoming as many refugees as possible this fiscal year by revising the admissions goal to the promised 62,500, and honoring his commitment to resettling 125,000 refugees in FY 2022.
