RECONNECTIONS SERVICE We continue to try out different ways to help people feel better connected at this time – including virtual group coffee catch-ups, helping people become more confident online, link ups to socially distanced walking groups, and more. Our trustees are elected by a group of around 50 Charter Members. Day-to-day management of Independent Age is the responsibility of a small senior management team, supported by around 160 staff and 2,000 volunteers. UNDERLYING ENTITLEMENT TO CARER'S ALLOWANCE Underlying entitlement to Carer's Allowance. When you apply for Carer's Allowance, you may be told that you can't be paid it because you already receive other benefits. Disability Living Allowance (DLA): 0800 121 4600 if you were born after 8 April 1948, or 0800 731 0122 if you were born on or before 8 April 1948. Personal Independence Payment (PIP): 0800 121 4433. If you're discharged but go back into hospital within 28 days, the days spent in hospital will be added I’M SELLING MY HOME. GETTING EQUIPMENT FOR SIGHT LOSS Most of us will experience some sight loss as we age. Having a visual impairment can cause difficulties in your daily life. But there are many products that can make your life easier and help you live independently. Aids and technology to help you stay independent if you're living with sight or hearing loss I LOOK AFTER SOMEONE. CAN I CLAIM ANY If you’re regularly caring for someone for at least 35 hours a week, they receive certain disability benefits, and you don’t earn more than £128 a week, then you can probably claim Carer’s Allowance. It's paid at £67.60 a week.
