This year’s Language Trends research looked at the impact of the referendum vote on teachers and pupils. Three areas of concern emerged: teacher supply and retention, pupils' attitudes towards language-learning, and access to EU funding and programmes. LEARNING TO CODE AT SUMMER SCHOOL Learning to code at Summer School. We are using the micro:bit to teach students how to code in English. In Summer 2018, Summer Plus in Spain ran in eight teaching centres helping over 1,800 young people learn English through coding. We used the BBC micro:bit – a tiny programmable computer designed for children to make learning easy andfun.

They have five seconds to say a ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUMMER CAMP ACTIVITIES FOR TEENAGERS The first day of summer camp is a chance for learners, many of whom are meeting for the first time, to decide how they want to present themselves to new people. In this activity they will introduce themselves to the class through photos and objects, which can be less scary than standing in front of new people to talk. WHY EMPLOYERS VALUE INTERCULTURAL SKILLS To understand where employers are coming from, we first asked them to describe intercultural skills for us. BECOME A CERTIFIED BRITISH COUNCIL AGENT OR COUNSELLOR The British Council Agent and Counsellor Training Suite will provide school counsellors, college counsellors, teachers and education agents online courses with the knowledge to become a fully Certified British Council Agent or Counsellor (on completion of the Certificate level).
