Veronika Burian, born in Prague, originally studied industrial design in Munich and then worked as a product designer in Vienna and Milan.Discovering her true passion for type, she graduated with distinction from the MA in Typeface Design course in Reading, UK in 2003. After a few years as a typeface designer at DaltonMaag in London, she founded TypeTogether together with José Scaglione HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPEFACE A serif typeface that has enough air overall (i.e., white space), has good typographic colour, and preferably low contrast would be appropriate here. LFT Etica, the moralist type family by Leftloft, was developed to fill the astute designer’s needs.The starting point was the common, cold grotesque sans typefaces — ubiquitous and often badly applied in their everyday visual environment. DEVANAGARI TYPE ANATOMY BY POOJA SAXENA Summary. • Devanagari is an alphasyllabic script, which has only one case and is written from left to right. One of its distinguishing visual features is that, along with sitting on a baseline, the letters also hang from a horizontal headline. • Devanagari traditionally has a diagonal axis, opposite of Latin, at about 30–45°.
