Tusk is a dynamic and adaptable organisation with over 28 years of experience initiating and funding wildlife conservation, community development and environmental education programmes across Africa. TUSK | TUSK CONSERVATION LECTURE 2020 This will be an extra special evening to celebrate Tusk’s belated 30th anniversary, with three inspirational speakers sharing stories about their respective roles in preserving African conservation and their future objectives moving forward. TUSK | SERA WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY In 2001 local Samburu communities formed the Sera Wildlife Conservancy (SWC) with the aim of bringing together three historically rival ethnic groups to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in their traditional lands. The initiative was so successful that in 2015 the Sera Rhino Sanctuary was established withthe
TUSK | TUSK’S YEAR OF THE LION The ‘King of Beasts’, lions have been celebrated and revered throughout history for their courage and strength. Once roaming most of Africa and parts of Asia and Europe, now only around 20,000 remain and three-quarters of African lion populations are in decline. Tusk is celebrating 2019 as our Year of the Lion, an initiative to shine a light on one of the world’s most charismatic animals TUSK | POACHING & ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TRADE The illegal wildlife trade is the fourth most lucrative international crime after drugs, arms and human trafficking. The illegal wildlife trade is one of the principle immediate threats to wildlife, particularly iconic African species such as rhino, elephant and lion,which are
TUSK | RWENZORI MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE FOR CONSERVATION Tusk is looking for adventurers to take on a 4-day trek through Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains in support of our work. The adventure will include a visit to the Queen Elizabeth National Park and the work that Tusk is supporting on the ground through the Uganda ConservationFoundation.

TUSK | THE GIANT SABLE CONSERVATION PROJECT The Giant Sable Conservation Project. The Giant Sable is a critically endangered antelope found only in central Angola. Although it is the national animal, and nickname of the national football team, the population of around 2,000 in the 1970s was thought to have gone completely extinct during the subsequent civil war. A year ago, Tusk launched its Crisis Appeal in response to the immediate impact that the Covid-19 pandemic was having on wildlife conservation initiatives across Africa. TUSK | WORLD’S GREATEST JOINS THE VIRTUAL LEWA SAFARI The Tusk and Lewa teams were once again thrilled to host Eliud Kipchoge, the world’s greatest Marathon runner of all time, at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy over the weekend. Kipchoge was at the Conservancy to take part in a very special training run alongside some of the reserve’s wildlife rangers and neighbouring community members to help promote this year's Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon. TUSK | TRANS-SERENGETI SAFARI 2021 This exceptional safari can take place any time from 01 September 2021 to end March 2022, subject to guide availability. Due to COVID-19, the vast savannahs of the Serengeti are empty of visitors and for the first time in decades, your group will have the opportunity to explore this beautiful landscape before the tourists come back. TUSK | TUSK’S YEAR OF THE LION The ‘King of Beasts’, lions have been celebrated and revered throughout history for their courage and strength. Once roaming most of Africa and parts of Asia and Europe, now only around 20,000 remain and three-quarters of African lion populations are in decline. Tusk is celebrating 2019 as our Year of the Lion, an initiative to shine a light on one of the world’s most charismatic animals TUSK | HUMAN-WILDLIFE CONFLICT In parts of Kenya, human-wildlife conflict has overtaken poaching as the greatest threat to some of the country’s most important elephant populations. As they follow their migratory routes or come to feed on crops, elephants destroy property and livelihoods. In extreme cases both people and elephants are being killed in confrontations. Established in 2003, the Mali Elephant Project (MEP) protects a unique population of 550 sub-desert elephants. PAN AFRICAN CONSERVATION EDUCATION (PACE) Run in partnership between Tusk and Siren Conservation Education, the Pan African Conservation Education project (PACE) is all about sharing simple ideas to make big changes. It sprang from a design for a low-technology water pump that was installed by Tusk in northern Kenya. PACE supports conservation and sustainability education, providing ideas, information and training for teachers and learnersacross Africa.
