BAILEY AND SARAH WILLIAMSON PRESERVE Bailey and Sarah Williamson first approached TLC about conserving the property back in the early 2000s, and in October 2013, unfortunately after both had passed, their vision was realized when TLC purchased the property for future use as a public preserve. Become a Triangle Explorer! The Triangle Explorer Challenge is an opportunity to get kids outside and learning in fun and engaging ways. In this incentive-based program, kids will conduct science experiments, explore nature, and create works of art. All of the activities can be completed at home with minimal supplies. To earn badges, you must first enroll in the NATURE EDUCATION PROGRAMS Connecting people with nature is one of the Triangle Land Conservancy’s four public benefits. Our public nature preserves offer opportunities for an experiential, hands-on approach to learning about the environment. In order to enhance accessibility of our resources, we also offer a variety of educational programs to promote community conservation throughout the Triangle region. Become a Triangle Explorer! The Triangle Explorer Challenge is an opportunity to get kids outside and learning in fun and engaging ways. In this incentive-based program, kids will conduct science experiments, explore nature, and create works of art. All of the activities can be completed at home with minimal supplies. To earn badges, you must first enroll in the VOLUNTEER AT A NATURE PRESERVE Conservation Corps. Volunteers preserve and improve the physical and biological components of TLC’s Nature Preserves, particularly those in the Western part of the Triangle. The Conservation Corps meets weekly on Thursdays from 9-12 to carry out trail construction and maintenance, invasive species monitoring and control, basicconstruction
SAFEGUARD WORKING LANDS AND DRINKING WATER The Eno-New Hope Landscape Conservation Plan focuses on the critical importance of habitat connectivity for wildlife in the Eno River and New Hope Creek watersheds in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake counties.. I serve as the Farm Manager for the Williamson Preserve in eastern Wake County. It is a beautiful mosaic of farm fields, woodlands, ponds, and creeks. WHITE PINES NATURE PRESERVE IN THE PIEDMONT -TRIANGLE LAND White Pines Nature Preserve became the first major land purchase project. In 1987, TLC launched an effort to protect this natural area from potential development, purchasing 136 acres from two landowners and forming the core of the nature preserve. NEW HOPE CREEK TRAILS AND MILLS Walk along a wooden boardwalk and explore the traces of 200 year old mills on two miles of trails near the Eno River and Duke Forest. YOU WON’T BELIEVE YOUR EYES: THE SEVEN WONDERS OF WAKE Triangle Land Conservancy’s Temple Flat Rock Preserve was recently named one of WakeWonder’s Seven Wonders of Wake County by the WakeNature Partnership. On Saturday, November 7, join Leigh Ann Hammerbacher, TLC’s Associate Director of Conservation and Stewardship, for a special tour of Temple Flat Rock Preserve.
