The Living Coast Discovery Center strives to bring the excitement of nature exploration, scientific inquiry, and wildlife connection to your students. Campers will get to meet at least one animal up-close, explore the trails, visit various exhibits, feed some of our ambassadors, practice hands-on science, create recycled arts andcrafts, and more.

Explore over a mile of walking trails leading from the Discovery Center exhibits out to the shore of San Diego Bay. Stroll the trails and you will find the foundation of the old gunpowder factory that used to exist on Gunpowder Point and see the railroad tracks that were used to bring kelp to the factory from the bay.GUEST ADVENTURES
Wednesdays, Saturdays, & Sundays at 2:45 p.m. Enjoy learning about the wildlife that calls the Living Coast Discovery Center home. Led by one of our docent volunteers, guests will get to hear stories about our animal ambassadors and learn about their wild counter parts. Depending on the group, the docent may focus on the raptors, shorebirds PRIVATE ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS Encounter with one of our animal ambassadors. Options include: Feed a sea turtle or a bat ray.
