Since the 1950s, Paula Rego has played a key role in redefining figurative art in the UK and internationally. An uncompromising artist of extraordinary imaginative power, she has revolutionised the way in which women are represented. This exhibition will tell the story of this artist’s THE EY EXHIBITION: THE MAKING OF RODIN Working at the turn of the 20th century, Auguste Rodin broke the rules of classical sculpture to create an image of the human body that mirrored the ruptures, complexities and uncertainties of the modern age. This major exhibition is the first to focus on the importance of plaster in his work. Although Rodin is best known for his bronze and marble sculptures, he himself worked as a modeller ‘THE ONLY BLONDE IN THE WORLD’, PAULINE BOTY, 1963 Artwork page for ‘The Only Blonde in the World’, Pauline Boty, 1963 on display at Tate St Ives. Pop artists were fascinated by Marilyn Monroe as the most famous of movie stars and the epitome of a new sexuality. Most responses to her were made by men, however.
