ORGANIZATIONS
Organizations. SCFD is the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, a tax collected and distributed to nearly 300 cultural organizations in our seven-county Denver metro region. Culture creates vibrancy for us individually and collectively. It gives our kids a unique perspective and understanding of the world.ABOUT US – SCFD
An original work of art. SCFD is the only cultural funding model in the nation that serves a region of seven counties. This broad base has allowed us to grow into the second largest cultural funding mechanism in the United States. We fund nearly 300 organizations across our front range urban corridor, distributing more than $60 millionannually.
STORIES – SCFD
Homare Ikeda dreams his creations into being. In some ways, that has been true for his entire life. The Denver-based painter rises at 4 a.m., makes coffee and puts brush or pen to paper, creating a new work each day and posting it to Instagram. His attention and his dreams during the quarantine have turned.FUNDING PROCESS
Use the funding. Report what you accomplished. Step 1: Apply for Eligibility. Gaining official certification as an eligible organization is the first step to receiving funding. OUR HISTORY
SCFD was created in the late 1980s, when the Denver metro economy faced a serious economic downturn and cultural funding at the city and state level was being cut significantly. Cultural organizations were on the brink of shutting down. A group of local mavericks rallied to put forth a regional tax that would give one penny from every $10 COUNTY CULTURAL COUNCILS Click here to apply. Click here for a district map. OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE NATURAL WORLD ROOTS AND CONNECTS US When you think of culture, what do you include? Maybe the traditions and holidays your family holds dear. Or your favorite works of art hanging in a museum or gallery. Or the festivals and events we celebrate as a collective each spring, summer and fall.
