Up until recently, Sacred Heart Mission’s Dining Hall was a lively place of welcome and hospitality. When COVID-19 restrictions arrived in Melbourne, staff like myself have been confronted with a new way of working. Before, we could sit alongside people for GP SERVICE - SACRED HEART MISSION Sacred Heart Mission’s General Practitioner (GP) service in St Kilda provides private consultations with a GP and Practice Nurse. Open from Monday to Thursday between 9am and 1pm, the GP Clinic provides primary health care to people who do not have a GP or struggle to access or feel at ease attending mainstream medical services. JOURNEY TO SOCIAL INCLUSION PROGRAM GREENLIGHT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM A partnership provided by Sacred Heart Mission, VincentCare and Salvation Army manages Greenlight, a new $4.5 million supportive housing program assisting people sleeping rough across inner Melbourne to settle into their new home and community and stay housed.THE WOMEN'S HOUSE

The Wellness Place. The Sacred Heart Mission Wellness Place provides complementary therapies for people who are experiencing homelessness or disadvantage and reside in the City of Port Phillip. The Wellness Place is located at 87 Grey Street, St Kilda. Open weekdays, it offers a range of complementary therapies in a warm and welcoming WHAT IS HOMELESSNESS? The term homeless is broad, and while everyone has a different experience of being homeless, at its very core, being homeless is about absence: an absence of a home, a safe place to live, security, choices and control over one’s life. It is also often an absence of family and friends. The 2016 ABS census statistics showed more than116,000

The Women’s House is a welcoming, safe and supportive engagement hub tailored to the needs of all women (trans and cis) who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. OUR RESPONSE TO THE VICTORIAN BUDGET 2021-2022 Key initiatives that will benefit vulnerable Victorians experiencing homelessness and disadvantage include: Housing & Homelessness. $194 million for services that prevent homelessness, focusing on people who need help in the rental market, young people leaving care and vulnerable Victorians with complex needs. THREE DECADES OF ROUGH SLEEPING Three decades of rough sleeping. It is almost 30 years since I started working with people sleeping rough in Melbourne. Over that time there have been some important service system improvements in Victoria which should not be forgotten. Our mission is to build people's capacity to participate more fully in community life, by addressing the underlying causes of deep, persistent disadvantage and social exclusion.. We do this by: Ensuring access to the necessities of food, clothing, housing, health care and specialised services. OUR 'MAKE A HOUSE A HOME' FUND Our new 'Make a House a Home' fund. When some of the most vulnerable people in our community finally get access to a new house, in order to make that property feel like a home we are helping them with all the essentials: a bed, couch, washing machine and plants, to add to that feeling of ‘welcome’. We’re buying critical items for peopleDONATE GOODS
As a general rule, Sacred Heart Mission does not accept unsolicited donations of goods, excluding op shop donations and donations to our Dining Hall. However, there may be exceptions if such donations are suitable and needed by our programs.
