OVERVIEW - MDOT MTA PURPLE LINE The Purple Line is owned by the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA). In spring of 2016, MDOT MTA selected a private-sector partner, Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) to design, build, operate, and maintain the light rail system for 35 years. The platforms will be more substantial than a bus stop, but not the size of a Metrorail station and will be between 140 and 200 feet long. CONSTRUCTION UPDATES The table below is a list of active construction along the Purple Line alignment.
