This is exactly what happened to Kim Gumm, a Minneapolis-area mother of four. In March 2016, she embarked on an undesired journey from shingles to PHN that is still not over. It all started with a headache. SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION: AN EXERCISE TREATMENT PROTOCOL Diagnosis. SI joint dysfunction may be diagnosed easily with the Prone Press Up Test, which is widely known to physical therapists, chiropractors, and physicians specializing in musculoskeletal conditions. 1 The patient is placed in prone position and asked to press up into lumbar extension. The practitioner places their thumbs over the bilateral SI joints. ACUPUNCTURE: NEW APPROACH FOR TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDERS Acupuncture is a simple, safe, and efficacious technique in the management of TMD. Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is clinically characterized by pain in the masticatory muscles of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This affects an estimated 10 million Americans, and one-third of adults will experience symptoms of TMD over their life span. 1,2. ERNEST SYNDROME AND INSERTION OF THE SML AT THE MANDIBLE Ernest Syndrome is a painful complex of reproducible symptoms (see Figure 1) related to the insertion of the stylomandibular ligament (SML) at the mandible. 1-21 The onset of Ernest Syndrome may be a consequence of auto accident, whiplash, blunt trauma, law enforcement submission techniques, general anesthesia, dental surgery, excessive yawning, and other etiologies.
