HOW TO MAKE A QUILT BLOCK ON POINT So, for EACH quilt block that you want to set on point – you’ll need to cut 2 squares, 5- Cut in half diagonally from corner to corner. EXAMPLE: ex: 20/1.414 + .0875 = 14.144 + 0.875 = 15.019, or about 15 1/8. Now round up to 15 3/4″ or 16. CUT two squares 16. Cut two because you need four corners. SELF BINDING QUILT TUTORIAL Go around all 4 sides and trim, trim, trim. 3/4 inch. yup. that’s it. 4) Now is the making the binding part. Take that 3/4 inch extra back and fold it. Line the raw edge right up to the edge of the top and batting edge. 5) Fold once more. It will fold onto the top of the quilt and be 1/4 inch past the edge. HOW TO STITCH SMALL PIECES How to Stitch Small Pieces – it’s not as scary as you think! Trim your seams and points. Keeping things trimmed on the back will help on the front. Just snip off the pointy ends, or the large bulky seams that are causing problems or getting in the way. Be careful not to get too close to the stitches.
