USING THE NEW DOCLET API Introduction. In JDK 9, JEP 221 introduced a new "Doclet API" to supersede the previous API, which was becoming increasingly difficult to update to support new language features. The new API leverages other Java SE and JDK API, such as the Language Model API, added in JDK 6, and the Compiler Tree API, added in JDK 6 and extended in JDK8.
