The Conoid Studio is the tour de force of Nakashima’s warped-shell experiments, and the only one built in reinforced concrete. The expansive glass walls on the building’s southern end afford a large amount of solar gain in the wintertime. George opens his own workshop in the garage of a cottage in New Hope and begins to design furniture lines for Knoll Associates, which connects the Nakashima name to a larger audience.
