SECOND DOSE • LILITH SAINTCROW On Saturday the Prince and I headed out to a local mass-vaccination site, having appointments for our second dose of Pfizer. It went extremely smoothly–we were on time, had all our paperwork, and wore easy-access sleeves. GOOD LUCK • LILITH SAINTCROW Good Luck. May 14, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. I was cleaning off the mantel (I’ve been nesting lately) and came across a whole sand dollar a very good friend gave me years ago (well before lockdown) as well as a horseshoe found I know not where. It seemed a good omen, especially after I dusted and arranged them in pleasing fashion.HUMAN TALES
Nameless. An adopted princess. An immortal Family. A snow-choked cityand one blood-red apple. When Camille was six years old, she was discovered alone in the snow by Enrico Vultusino, godfather of the Seven—the powerful Families that rule magic-ridden New Haven. Papa Vultusino adopted the mute, scarred child, naming her after his deadwife
THE PILE AND PIRANESI • LILITH SAINTCROW The Pile and Piranesi. May 7, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. Since some energy has freed up–i.e., the relief of everyone having at least the first vaccine shot means I’m not plunged in a whirlpool of worry every time someone in the house coughs–I’ve been getting more in the way of reading done.STEELFLOWER
Steelflower. Sellsword. Assassin. Thief. Kaia Steelflower has done quite well for herself, and she longs to retire as an innkeeper. Unfortunately, one night she picks the wrong pocket, and finds herself saddled with a barbarian, an elven princeling and his two hapless companions, a wharf-rat, and a lutebanging minstrel. POKEY SIDE-EFFECTS • LILITH SAINTCROW Pokey Side-Effects. April 26, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. The Princess had her second dose of Pfizer on Friday; the Prince and I visited the mass vaccination site on Saturday and got our first. It took about twenty minutes from the gate to the observation area, and the only reason I didn’t cry was because I had a mask on and that gets messy. MONDAY, NO PRISONERS • LILITH SAINTCROW It’s not even 10:30 in the morning and already I am DONE with TODAY, thank you very much.. It wouldn’t be so bad if PayPal wasn’t being so awful. I live for the day that company either becomes a public utility or we get a good challenger for its market share. Now, I honestly don’t blame the customer service department for being awful–they’re overworked and paid a mere pittance, and ON FALLEN, AND HEDAIRA • LILITH SAINTCROW On Fallen, and Hedaira. February 24, 2020. March 29, 2016 by Lili Saintcrow. When I woke up this morning–sweating from bad dreams–it was clear, but the fog moved in soon after. Veils and bands of cloud drifting silently over pavement, fingering every surface before wrapping itself tight. ABOUT LILI - LILITH SAINTCROWABOUT LILINEWSLETTERTHE DAILY (BLOG) GRINDTHE BOOKSSUBSCRIPTIONSAS S.C. EMMETT About Lili. March 29, 2016 by Lili Saintcrow. When I woke up this morning–sweating from bad dreams–it was clear, but the fog moved in soon after. Veils and bands of cloud drifting silently over pavement, fingering every surface before wrapping itself tight. CONTORTIONIST HEADACHE • LILITH SAINTCROW Contortionist Headache. March 24, 2017 by Lili Saintcrow. After being utterly convinced all day yesterday that it was Friday, I am now in the middle of a Friday that feels like a Monday. Well, more like I’m in the first third of a Friday that feels like a Monday. My weekend is going to be full of research reading, and I’m fighting the urge ABOUT LILI - LILITH SAINTCROWABOUT LILINEWSLETTERTHE DAILY (BLOG) GRINDTHE BOOKSSUBSCRIPTIONSAS S.C. EMMETT About Lili. SECOND DOSE • LILITH SAINTCROW On Saturday the Prince and I headed out to a local mass-vaccination site, having appointments for our second dose of Pfizer. It went extremely smoothly–we were on time, had all our paperwork, and wore easy-access sleeves.HUMAN TALES
ALMOST ROYAL • LILITH SAINTCROW In late spring, there’s an explosion of color as the rhododendrons and azaleas flower. It’s short indeed, but very vivid, and I like this particular bush.STEELFLOWER
NOT QUITE PLANNED • LILITH SAINTCROW Not Quite Planned. May 4, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. Rain last night and a sunny morning; I can almost feel the grass stretching, not to mention the grapevines, the hop vine, and the salvia. I’m sure the foxglove out front is pretty happy too, and the blueberries appear to have taken transplanting well. I also woke up with Janet Jackson’s REST AGGRESSIVELY • LILITH SAINTCROW There’s so much to do, and yet the power to do any of it seems beyond me today. I was cleaning off the mantel (I’ve been nesting lately) and came across a whole sand dollar a very good friend gave me years ago (well before lockdown) as well as a horseshoe found I know not where. It seemed a good omen, especially after I dusted and arranged them in pleasing fashion. SUNNY SPRING, AND A NEW SERIAL • LILITH SAINTCROW Sunny Spring, and a New Serial. April 30, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. I usually do a Friday photo, but this is a special week. I just got the covers for the next serial after HOOD, along with this shiny graphic to announce its advent. Pretty neat, right? THE PILE AND PIRANESI • LILITH SAINTCROW The Pile and Piranesi. May 7, 2021 by Lili Saintcrow. Since some energy has freed up–i.e., the relief of everyone having at least the first vaccine shot means I’m not plunged in a whirlpool of worry every time someone in the house coughs–I’ve been getting more in the way of reading done. So far Monday hasn’t been its usual sweet self, but then again, neither have I. At least the hellebores are still blooming. Half the weekend was spent working despite my best efforts; I meant to take it completely off and get a bunch of chores done but 4k of Cold North fell out of my head.
