The public should exercise caution in and around the water there, officials said. To take you along with us on GATEWAY HIGH SCHOOL READY FOR STUDENTS news@breezenewspapers.com Gateway High School opened its doors for a ribbon cutting last week, showcasing the $98 million project, which includes the first Collegiate Academy in the East Zone, to the community. “It was a really great day,” Principal Neketa Watson said, adding that people from the community, and district personnelattended.
VACCINATION AVAILABILITY INCREASES IN LEE COUNTY Southeastern Grocers, parent company and home of Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket, has increased COVID-19 vaccinations to 124 locations and expanded eligibility groups. Fifty-five new Florida stores and 11 additional counties, including Lee County, have been added. Lee County locations, all new are: • Fresco y Más Store No. 745: 1145 Homestead Rd. GATEWAY HIGH BUILD IS COMPLETE Located at near the intersection of State Road 82 and Griffin Drive, the three-story Gateway High School sits on 55.6 acres, totals approximately 300,000 square feet and will accommodate more than 2,000 students. Suffolk provided preconstruction and construction management services for the project. Construction began in September 2019. HOME & GARDEN SHOW RETURNS IN JANUARY TO DOWNTOWN FORT news@breezenewspapers.com The 25th semi-annual Home & Garden Show will return to downtown Fort Myers this weekend with safety protocols in place. Expo Management President Bill Anderson, who produces the Home & Garden Show, said 24 years ago when the Harborside Event Center opened its doors, the show was the first event in the building. LEE COMMISSIONERS APPROVE DESIGN CONTRACT FOR ABLE CANAL The Lee Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to approve a design contract for the 6-mile long Able Canal shared-use pathway in Lehigh Acres. Florida-based Kisinger Campo & Associates Corp. will design an approximately six-mile-long shared-use pathway with a bicycle/pedestrian bridge, high-emphasis crosswalks, shade structures, landscaping and other amenities.
