Normalisation process fails to normalise Mindanao in the Philippines. Four civilians were killed, two of them women, after getting caught in the crossfire of the war between the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters-Karialan Group (BIFF) and the Armed Forces of the RWANDA – 25 YEARS AFTER THE GENOCIDE In 1994, as many as 1,000,000 Rwandans lost their lives during a brutal 100 day genocide against the Tutsi. From 7 April to mid-July, the genocide spread from Rwanda's capital Kigali throughout the country, leaving over one million Tutsis dead and an estimated 2,000,000 people displaced. NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN LIBERIA This 16-month project aimed to strengthen communities’ participation in the peaceful management of Liberia’s natural resources. From 2005, there was a significant growth in investment in the iron ore and palm oil sectors in Liberia, and by 2015 the country stood at a crossroads. Clear and transparent management of its resources could drive development and enable citizens to DRC | INTERNATIONAL ALERT In eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) we integrate peacebuilding into local development programmes. We help to address conflicts over land, power and resources, and advocate for conflict-sensitive economic development.NETHERLANDS
