What is Space Art? “ Space Art ” or “ Astronomical Art ”, is the genre of modern artistic expression emerging from knowledge and ideas associated with outer space, both as a source of inspiration and as a means for visualizing and promoting space travel. Like other genres of artistic creation, Space Art has many facets and encompasses “RIDGES OF GOLD 1” (2021) 2001 - present: working artist in ceramic sculpture and mixed-media. YURI’S NIGHT, SOYUZ ROCKET Yuri’s Night, Soyuz Rocket. This was made for Yuri’s Night 2021, with lots of help and advice from IAAA members on the EMail list. The rocket is a Soyuz that was given a special livery to mark the 60th Anniversary of the flight of the first cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin. The gantry was made by KuhnIndustries, for Blender, and converted to“TRAPPIST -1”

An extraterrestrial landscape featuring a range of mountains in extreme perspective with two moons low on the horizon. I was trying to get a point of view with a sense of weight and depth with a limited pallet of colbalt blue, violet, sepia, Payne’s grey,and
PLEIADES IN VAN GOGH STYLE The whirling bright clouds around the Pleiades stars in this painting represent independent dust clouds in the interstellar space which the stars are currently passing. So, this reflection nebula surrounding Messier 45 is totally unrelated to the stars. Our Mission. In the 1800s, artists accompanied explorers into the frontiers of the Americas and sent back colorful images of the new lands. Paintings from Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt spurred further exploration of the West, and helped to preserve Yellowstone, Yosemite, and other areas as national parks. In the winter of 2000, the IAAA created a “Hall of Fame” into which celebrated masters of the genré of Space Art would be inducted. Selecting a name to represent this distinguished and prestigious honor, in recognition and in acknowledgement for lifetime contributions to Astronomical Art, the IAAA instituted the Lucien Rudaux Memorial Award. RHO OPHIUCI CLOUDS COMPLEX This painting is an artistic interpretation of Rho Ophiuci Clouds Complex located near the center of Milky Way.
