5 Reasons to Love Soup. You can pack in lots of flavour. Soup is a great way to add herbs and spices to your baby’s food and the varieties are endless.; The more textures your baby is exposed to the better, it can really help with avoiding picky eating behaviours lateron.
SPINACH PUREE
Spinach puree is loaded with goodness and is great mixed with a range of sweet and savoury purees. Spinach is an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K1, Folic acid, Iron and Calcium.. Although nutritionally appealing, many children do not enjoy the bitter taste of spinach. Babies, however, are a lot more accomodating with new flavours. THE BENEFITS OF COOKING WITH KIDS THE BENEFITS OF COOKING WITH KIDS. Here is a list of some of the many skills that can get passed on when you cook with your kids. LIFE SKILL. Learning the basic skill of cooking, that can be used for the rest of your child’s life, is perhaps the most obvious skill gained.. By starting the cooking lessons at a young age, it becomes a skill that they are well adapted to by adulthood. PEAR PUREE - HEALTHY LITTLE FOODIES Wash and peel the pears. Halve and core each pear and then cut into small pieces. Add the chopped pears and 4 tbsp of water (and spices if desired) to a pot. Cover and cook over low heat until tender. (This will depend on how soft the pears were before cooking – anywherefrom 4-16 mins)
FRUIT KEBABS
Instructions. Thread 1 strawberry, 1 cantaloupe melon chunk, 1 pineapple chunk, 1 half kiwi slice, 2 blueberries and 1 grape onto a bamboo skewer approx 9cm (7.5inch) long. Place on a platter and serve with a dip of choice. BEAN AND VEGGIE NUGGETS Put the cannellini beans into a food processor and process until smooth. Add the carrots, zucchini, garlic, cheese and herbs and continue to process until combined. Add the breadcrumbs and egg and pulse until combined. Place the mixture into the fridge for approx. 15 mins to firm up. Place the beaten egg in a bowl and the breadcrumbs ona flat
RISOTTO BALLS (BAKED ARANCINI) Place flour in a dish, beaten egg in another and the breadcrumbs on a flat plate. Roll risotto into balls (mine were approx. 1 1/2 tbsp each) Roll each ball into the flour then dip into the egg and finally coat with the breadcrumbs. Place on baking tray, lightly spray with olive oil and cook until golden and heated though out.BANANA BABY MUFFINS
Mix together with a whisk. Add the mashed banana and mix through. In a seperate mixing bowl, add the flour cinnamon and baking soda and gently stir to mix through. Add the dry flour mix to the wet ingredients and fold in gently until just combined. DEVELOPING EARLY MATHEMATICAL SKILLS THROUGH COOKING The Kitchen is an excellent “classroom” that is fully equipped with tools and opportunities to develop early mathematical skills. Cooking with children has many benefits, one of which is the opportunity it provides to explore early mathematical concepts with your kids.. Young children learn best when they are doing, playing and able to relate – cooking ticks all these boxes.BLUEBERRY PUREE
Blueberry puree couldn’t be easier! Discard & Wash: Sort through the blueberries and remove any soft, bruised or mouldy berries. Wash under cold water and dry. Blend: Add the blueberries to the small bowl of a food processor (or to a blender) and blend until smooth. If using frozen blueberries you will need to defrost before blending. ADDING SPICES AND HERBS TO BABY FOOD When to Introduce Herbs and Spices to Babies. I always encourage parents who are just starting weaning their babies, either by purees or baby-led, to experiment with herbs and spices from the beginning. As salt and sugar should be avoided before one, adding a little spice and/or herbs is a great way to add flavour to baby food.. Breastfed babies are often introduced to a variety of spices evenSAVOURY WAFFLES
Savoury Waffles Recipe. Shredded Sweet Potato and Carrot mixed with cheese, flour & eggs. Cooked in a waffle machine, making them a great finger food and perfect for the lunchbox. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 15 minutes. Total Time: 25 minutes. Serves:12. Hover over "serves" value to reveal recipe scaler. HOMEMADE BAKED BEANS Saute garlic in a little olive oil. Add smoked paprika and stir. Add passata, tomato puree/paste, stock and stir. Simmer the tomato sauce for around 20 minutes (until the sharp taste of the tomato is gone and the sauce has thickened. Add the beans and simmer for a further 10mins.
BANANA OVERNIGHT OATS Instructions. Add oats, chia seeds, cinnamon to a glass jar / Tupperware container / bowl and stir to combine. Add the mashed banana, peanut butter and a splash of the milk. Stir to fully combine. Add the remaining milk, stir, cover and refrigerate overnight (or for a minimum of 4 hours)ROASTED PEAS
Roasted Peas are a delicious and crunchy snack, perfect for on the go. Pop them into lunchboxes or use them to top salads for added texture. Peas are starchy and sweet and are probably one of the more kid-friendly vegetables out there.CHICKPEA PANCAKES
In a frying pan, heat 1/2 tbsp of the oil over a medium-high heat. Add the carrot, pepper, onion, turmeric and cumin seeds. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until softened (around 4-5 mins) Add the carrot mixture to the chickpea batter along with the chopped coriander and salt (if using). Stir until fully combined.TUNA FRITTATA
Instructions. Pre heat grill (broiler) to a high setting. Crack eggs into a bowl and whisk. Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the spring onion and garlic, over a medium-low heat, until softened. (around 5 minutes) Add the tuna and stir. Turn the heat up and pour the eggs over the tuna and onions. Allow the bottom to cook (2 -3minutes

If you are looking to increase the variety of fruits your children consume then fruit kebabs are an easy and fun way to do this. BEAN AND VEGGIE NUGGETS Carrots and Zucchini (courgettes): Grate the carrots and zucchini (I used the food processor but you can also use a box grater) and then squeeze out the juice.I do this by placing the grated vegetables onto a clean tea towel and squeezing hard! Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream – This one is amazing! Add 2-3 tbsp of peanut butter before you start blending. HIDDEN VEGGIES BEEF BURGERS Hidden veggies Beef burgers are a kids meal made healthier. Serve with more veggies and veggie fries to make this an even healthier kids meal. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 6 minutes. Total Time: 15 minutes. Serves:6. Hover over "serves" value to reveal recipe scaler. SWEET POTATO MUFFINS Instructions. Preheat oven to 190C / 375F and grease a 24 cup mini muffin tray with cooking spray or butter. Place sultanas in a bowl and soak in boiling water. Learning the basic skill of cooking, that can be used for the rest of your child’s life, is perhaps the most obvious skill gained.. By starting the cooking lessons at a young age, it becomes a skill that they are well adapted to by adulthood.BANANA ICE CREAM
Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream – This one is amazing! Add 2-3 tbsp of peanut butter before you start blending. Chocolate Banana Ice Cream – Add 2 tbsp of cacao (more or less depending on taste) as you are blending. Raspberry Banana Ice Cream – Add 1 cup of raspberries (frozen or fresh) Save. Of course, it doesn’t stop there. RISOTTO BALLS (BAKED ARANCINI) Place flour in a dish, beaten egg in another and the breadcrumbs on a flat plate. Roll risotto into balls (mine were approx. 1 1/2 tbsp each) Roll each ball into the flour then dip into the egg and finally coat with the breadcrumbs. Place on baking tray, lightly spray with olive oil and cook until golden and heated though out. PEAR PUREE - HEALTHY LITTLE FOODIESPEAR PUREE BABY FOOD RECIPEPEAR PUREE CAKE RECIPEPEAR PUREE FOR BABY Wash and peel the pears. Halve and core each pear and then cut into small pieces. Add the chopped pears and 4 tbsp of water (and spices if desired) to a pot. Cover and cook over low heat until tender. (This will depend on how soft the pears were before cooking – anywherefrom 4-16 mins)
HIDDEN VEGGIES BEEF BURGERS Hidden veggies Beef burgers are a kids meal made healthier. Serve with more veggies and veggie fries to make this an even healthier kids meal. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 6 minutes. Total Time: 15 minutes. Serves:6. Hover over "serves" value to reveal recipe scaler. SWEET POTATO MUFFINS Instructions. Preheat oven to 190C / 375F and grease a 24 cup mini muffin tray with cooking spray or butter. Place sultanas in a bowl and soak in boiling water. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweet potato puree, mashed banana, coconut oil, , eggs and vanilla extract. BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES Pre heat oven to 180C / 350F / Gas Mark 4 and line a baking tray/sheet with baking/parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl mash the bananas really well, until smooth. Add the oats and mix until fully combined. Add in any additions to suit taste *NOTE 4.BANANA ICE CREAM

Spinach puree is loaded with goodness and is great mixed with a range of sweet and savoury purees. Spinach is an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K1, Folic acid, Iron and Calcium.. Although nutritionally appealing, many children do not enjoy the bitter taste of spinach. Babies, however, are a lot more accomodating with new flavours. Add passata, tomato puree/paste, stock and stir. Simmer the tomato sauce for around 20 minutes (until the sharp taste of the tomato is gone and the sauce has thickened. Add the beans and simmer for a further 10mins.
APPLE PUREE
Transfer the apples to a large pan. Add a little water (just enough to help them steam) and cinnamon (optional or sub for other spice.) Cover and Simmer. Simmer the apples for approximately 15 minutes. The apples should be very soft and starting to break VEGETABLE SAVOURY MUFFINS Place the zucchini and carrot onto a clean dish towel and wrap it around the vegetables. (see image above) Squeeze all the juice out. *SEE NOTE 2. Place the zucchini and carrots into a large mixing bowl along with the peas and sweetcorn. Add thePUFF PASTRY TARTS
Place in a mixing bowl along with the tomatoes, snow peas and capsicum. Toss in the olive oil. Place the prepared vegetables onto a baking tray and spread. Bake for 10 mins. Remove from oven and set aside. Cut the pastry sheet into four equal squares and then place on a baking tray, leaving a space between each.CHICKPEA PANCAKES
In a frying pan, heat 1/2 tbsp of the oil over a medium-high heat. Add the carrot, pepper, onion, turmeric and cumin seeds. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until softened (around 4-5 mins) Add the carrot mixture to the chickpea batter along with the chopped coriander and salt (if using). Stir until fully combined. PORRIDGE FINGERS FOR BABY-LED WEANING Plain Porridge Fingers. Add the oats and milk to a small bowl and soak until you have a mushy mixture. (A couple of minutes) Press the mixture into a small, flat-bottomed dish using the back of a spoon. Cook in the microwave for 2 minutes on high.**. CutSTRAWBERRY PUREE
Instructions. METHOD 1 (Raw Strawberries) Wash strawberries and then hull (SEE NOTE 2) Place strawberries in a food processor or blender and process until smooth (or desired consistency).
