A field landing scenario can become very absorbing and result in the pilot becoming distracted from the fundamentally important task of flying the glider. Pilots of all experience are vulnerable to distraction. In all cases and all times, flying the glider should be the pilots highest priority. Volunteering Why does gliding need volunteers? Volunteers have always played a vital part in gliding. Walk into any gliding club and practically everyone you meet will be a volunteer – whether it’s the person who welcomes you when you arrive, teaches you to fly, who launches the gliders, or who cuts the grass. BGA INSTRUCTOR COURSES Basic Instructor courses take place at gliding clubs who choose to run them. Volunteering Why does gliding need volunteers? Volunteers have always played a vital part in gliding. Walk into any gliding club and practically everyone you meet will be a volunteer – whether it’s the person who welcomes you when you arrive, teaches you to fly, who launches the gliders, or who cuts the grass. SAILPLANE PILOT LICENCE CONVERSION Sailplane Pilot Licence Conversion. Pilots of Part-21 sailplanes (formerly described as EASA sailplanes) including powered sailplanes including TMGs need to hold a Sailplane Pilot Licence (SPL) by 8 December 2021. BRITISH GLIDING RECORDS British gliding records fall into two principle categories: UK and National. UK records are for flights flown in the UK whereas National records are for flights by British pilots and which can be flown anywhere in the world. Within the UK record category there are records for the four diffferent sailplane classes (Open, 20m, 15m and Standard VOLUNTARY AND PAID OPPORTUNITIES A classroom, office and simulator room are all available on site.
