Over the years I’ve made several free instant snow Photoshop actions and they’re still some off the most popular downloads on the site. But they all had one thing in common they were very static! INSTANT (OVERHEAD) RAIN ACTION Thank You so much for all your vidéo post,You are a great photographer a great teacher too I was just worry about your friend s shoes and hope they did not smell too bad INSTANT TRIPTYCH ACTION Hi Kevin. Thanks for the feedback. As the Action slices the image into thirds and moves them apart there will be a loss of registration. To me that’s all part of the effect but you could always adapt the final layered image by filling in the panels with black, selecting them and then use the “Paste Into” command in Photoshop to get perfect registration. SPLASHART KIT 2 ~ REVIEW However the SplashArt kit 2 offers to take drip photography to a professional level. Verdict: The SplashArt 2 Kit is well designed and simple to use but best of all the photos it helps to create are just amazing. Way back in 2013 I made a simple Photoshop action that made snow. As it turns out it makes REALLY good looking snow and even today it’s regularly in the top three most visited pages of 8 BIT, 16 BIT OR 32 BIT? 16 Bit. Although technically not a true 16 bit image I’m basically talking about the RAW files from your digital camera. 16 bit files are packed with a lot more information then your standard 8 bit JPG and that means a lot more space to make adjustments to the exposure. Shadow areas of an image can be made slightly lighter without adding WATER REVERSAL BACKGROUNDS Water Reversal Backgrounds. If you’re looking for a simple stay at home photo project then this is for you. All you need is a glass filled with water and one of my free backgrounds. The water filled glass acts as a simple lens and reverses the image seen through it. The upshot of which is, if you place the glass in front of a bold butsimple

(Also works with Elements) INSTANT TRIPTYCH ACTION If you’re new to the art of the triptych, it’s simply three images in one picture and this action will make one with a single click. The action I’m sharing today takes an open photo in Photoshop and makes the basic triptych effect. The action will split your photo into three panels and add a wide border. You’ll need a landscape formatFRIDAY FREEBIE
F-Stop Chart. Flash meters are super helpful for lots of reasons but to really get the most from them you also need to know your f stop aperture numbers. You might already know that you need one more stop of light to move from f/5.6 to f/8 b Friday Freebie. WALL OF SOUND BACKGROUND So here it is, a wall of sound in my studio and all it took was a couple of photos plus an hour or two in Photoshop. The only thing missing is a musician but I’ll get to that in a later post. In the meantime, I’m sharing this background as a Friday Freebie. If you create a photo using the Friday Freebie then let me (and everyoneelse) know
DRAMATIC LIGHTING WITH JUST TWO SPEEDLIGHTS Dramatic lighting with just two speedlights. So you only have two bare speedlights and you want to shoot some creative portraits. That’s the challenge I faced recently after discussing how a fellow photographer could get started in portrait photography without spending too much on new equipment. Don’t get me wrong, barespeedlights will
SMOKE PHOTOGRAPHY (ALMOST) LIVE! About 10 years ago I made a video all about photographing smoke patterns. Dig around on YouTube and you’ll find it but a lot has changed in that time THE FOCAL LENGTH VS SHUTTER SPEED RULE When hand holding your camera the shutter speed should match or exceed the lens focal length. In other words if you wanted a sharp, shake free shot with a 50mm lens your shutter speed would be 1/50 th sec or faster. Whilst that was fine in its day the world has moved on and so has my rule. Modern lenses and cameras are capable of recording veryFRIDAY FREEBIE

It’s a case of two for the price of one with this Friday freebie Photoshop action as I’ve recorded a version for portrait (upright) and landscape (wide) format images. This action is an extension of the four part split action I made a few weeks back and generates a collage of smallscattered
INSTANT (OVERHEAD) RAIN ACTION Thank You so much for all your vidéo post,You are a great photographer a great teacher too I was just worry about your friend s shoes and hope they did not smell too bad SPLASHART KIT 2 ~ REVIEW However the SplashArt kit 2 offers to take drip photography to a professional level. Verdict: The SplashArt 2 Kit is well designed and simple to use but best of all the photos it helps to create are just amazing. If you’re serious about photographing splashes then this is a must have accessory. Overall Rating. Design / Features. Performance. THE FOCAL LENGTH VS SHUTTER SPEED RULE When hand holding your camera the shutter speed should match or exceed the lens focal length. Modern lenses and cameras are capable of recording very LIGHT TEXTURED BACKGROUND Light Textured Background. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a permanent studio and even fewer have the space for a textured wall. So being able to add texture to your portraits is a handy skill to have. Of course for this to work you’ll need someINSTANT SNOW ACTION

REVIEWS | GAVTRAIN.COM Review PiXAPRO CITI600 flash. With 600ws of flash on tap and a massive 8700mAh built in battery to power it, the PiXAPRO CITI600 sounds like a very capable flash head on paper. Throw in the potential for HSS and TTL if you’re a Canon or Nikon user and that 4 comments. More. BUILDING A DIY STUDIO BACKGROUND The Build. The idea was to make the background 8 feet (2.4 meters) square but my studio roof height made that impossible, so the frame work “evolved” to fit my needs. One thing I know all too well is log cabins move, even heavy duty ones like mine. So my background is almost free floating rather than permanently attached to the wall. SUPER QUICK PAINTERLY EFFECT IN PHOTOSHOP Super quick painterly effect in Photoshop. If like me you couldn’t paint a picture to save your life then you’ll love this easy to follow, three filter Photoshop effect. Best of all everything is used is a standard feature of both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements (PSE). Page NavigationPage Navigation The place to learn Photography and Photoshop* Blog
