Fighting on the Eastern Front, the aircraft was assigned to Jagdgeschwader (fighter wing) 54 near Leningrad.On July 9, 1943, while attacking a Soviet supply train, the plane crashed. FHCAM - GOODYEAR FG-1D CORSAIR - FLYING HERITAGE The “-1D” was the first true fighter-bomber version of this aircraft being able to carry a bomb or rocket load in support of ground troops. Although a Chance Vought design, Corsairs were also built under contract by Brewster and Goodyear. The latter built 4,017 Corsairs with the “FG” designation. FHCAM - M5A4 HIGH-SPEED TRACTOR - FLYING HERITAGE The M5 tractor was designed to tow large artillery pieces on the battlefield. The big machine could pull the weapon, as well as carry gun crewmen and a compliment of ammunition in rough terrain. FHCAM - BELL UH-1B IROQUOIS “HUEY” The FHCAM Huey was built in 1964 and sent to Germany to serve with the U.S. Army’s 4 th Armored Division. It returned to the United States in 1969 and served with the 1 st and 2 nd Armored Divisions at Fort Hood, Texas. The FHCAM Huey was assigned to the famous 9 th Cavalry Regiment of the 1 st Cavalry Division, upon their return from Vietnam in 1971. After a stint with the Ohio National FHCAM - REPUBLIC P-47D THUNDERBOLT This P-47 was manufactured in Evansville, Indiana, and delivered to the Army on June 27, 1945.
