EVERGREEN NEWS
LIST OF 5 NEWS STORIES.*
WELCOME TO NEW FAMILIES!5/24/2021
After an entirely virtual admissions process, we were thrilled to extend a warm in-person welcome to Evergreen's accepted students and their families! On Saturday, volunteer greeters from current families along with staff members — accompanied by our mascot Malcon the Falcon, of course — welcomed new families to campus, most for their first in-person visit! We can't wait to see them for the new school year in September ... after a relaxing summer, of course.*
EIGHTH GRADE CAPSTONE: REGIONAL EXPERIENCE PROGRAM5/18/2021
This is an exciting time for 8th graders ... last week, they embarked on their capstone four-week Regional Experience Program! They're all finished with academic classes, and in the coming weeks, they'll be exploring all around the greater Seattle area. In small working groups, they'll spend dedicated time in different city neighborhoods, outdoors engaged in nature-focused pursuits like rock climbing or backpacking, working on collective service projects, and finally, wrapping up with a retreat week. While Evergreen's signature capstone Global Studies Program is usually four weeks spent in a different country, that was of course not possible this year due to the pandemic.*
ALL SCHOOL VIRTUAL EARTH DAY ASSEMBLY: FOCUS ON RAPTORS!4/29/2021
As much as we wish we could all gather together in the auditorium, one thing we've learned this year about virtual assemblies is: We can do it ... and do it well! With an introductory video and a specially designed website shared in advance, every class was all set for yesterday's live online presentation by Northwest Trek , with a focus on birds of prey. Thanks to the Middle School Ecology Club with faculty helpers Janet Charnley and Ariana Ybanez for organizing this great event!*
