AFTERNOON TEA AT THE ROYAL STATION HOTEL NEWCASTLE The Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle is an iconic venue which takes you back in time to the Victorian era. As a setting for afternoon tea it is almost perfect and the lounge area is cosy. Service was good and the staff were attentive, making sure we were enjoying our tea. The cocktails made a nice start to the afternoon and the tea itself was DOG FRIENDLY PLACES TO VISIT AROUND WEMYSS BAY Dog friendly places to visit around Wemyss Bay. Visit the beach. All dogs love a walk so why not take your dog for a walk on the beach. The beach is a fifteen minute walk from the caravan park or a five minute drive. The caravan park is on a steep hill so expect a long climb backup if you do walk.
REGIONAL RECIPES: CANAL OR BACON FLODDIES Mix the ingredients with an egg to bind them together and a little seasoning. Drop a dollop of the mixture into a hot pan and flatten. CHERRY SHORTBREAD RECIPE 100 g caster sugar. 125 g glace cherries. Instructions. Preheat the oven to 17OC, 325F, Gas Mark 3. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Rub the butter into the flour and then add the sugar. Keep kneading until you get a dough, add the cherries and mix well RHUBARB AND WALNUT CAKE RECIPE Preheat the oven to 160 C, Gas Mark 4. Grease a loaf tin or line with baking paper. Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy then add the golden syrup and spices. Add the flour, eggs, bicarbonate of soda, walnuts and water. A VISIT TO TRAQUAIR HOUSE Traquair House is described as Scotland’s oldest inhabited house and promised plenty to see. As well as the house, there is a maze on the grounds, a cafe and craft workshops. It sounded like an interesting day for all the family. Traquair House is situated near Peebles, which was a bit of a drive from where we were staying. VISITING THE RISING SUN COUNTRY PARK The Rising Sun Country Park is one of North Tyneside’s best-kept secrets. The park covers 160 hectares (400 acres) of green space. It contains woodland, ponds, wetland, grassland, wildflower meadows, and organic farmland. I live locally and it is one of HARD ROCK CAFE NEWCASTLE Hard Rock Cafe Newcastle - Dragons and Fairy Dust. The Hard Rock Café Newcastle is the perfect place for a unique night out. Eat American inspired food in historic surroundings whilst discovering Geordie inspired rock memorabilia. The first-ever Hard Rock Café in the North East has officially opened its doors in Newcastle.BAKED BEAN LASAGNE

TRYING SAINSBURY'S CURRY READY MEALS Sainbury’s have taken this research on board and come up with a range of curry ready meals which are full of flavour. They have a large range of main dishes and side dishes to make authentic but light dishes. On visiting Sainsbury’s to pick up some if the dishes I was impressed with the variety in the range. Preheat the oven to 200C, Gas Mark 6. Add the flour, salt and suet into a bowl. Gradually add the water, mixing until a soft dough is formed. Knead then roll out into a rectangle 1 cm thick. Spread the jam onto the dough leaving a border round the edge. Use cold water on the ends to help create a seal. CADBURY CREME EGG CHEESECAKE Put in the fridge to set. Chop 5 of the Cadbury Creme Eggs up into small chunks and set aside. In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, vanilla essence and sifted icing sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk the double cream until it's thick. Gently fold the cream into the cream cheese mix until it's HOT WATER CRUST TURKEY AND HAM PIE RECIPE Mix until combined. Remove the minced mixture from the food processor and mix with the diced turkey and ham. Heat the water and milk with 200g g lard in a pan until it starts to simmer. Cut the cherries in half and make a pattern on the base of the pudding basin. Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Gradually beat in the eggs. This is a self catering castle,near Borgue, in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. It was a special family get together to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday and my mum’s 75th birthday.
