The year ahead – a message from our CEO. 2020 was certainly an extraordinary year – we were all faced with challenges unlike any we have faced for more than a generation. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic caused disruption to Dogs for Good’s work in every part of the organisation, but it was also incredibly heartening to see how ADOPTING A RESCUE DOGDOGS FOR GOOD
The aim is to inspire positive action, supporting and empowering dog owners to enhance their relationship with their dog through practical, accessible and inclusive advice, all with a sound theoretical underpinning. It’s about enhancing knowledge and understanding about dog behaviour, psychology and well-being, so people can take steps to FIND OUT ABOUT THE BREEDS WE TRAIN TO BE LIFE CHANGING DOGS To find out more about our experience of working with each breed, click on the links below: Breed focus – Labrador. BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY The ever popular ‘Bring Your Dog to Work Day’ takes place on Friday 26 June this year and we expect to see more people able to participate than ever before, as much of the country continues to work from home with their best friend by their side!. So this Bring Your Dog to Work Day we’re asking you to join in the fun and help raise vital funds to support us. DOGTOBER - A MONTH OF FUNDRAISING FUN FOR DOGS FOR GOOD October is Dogtober, a month-long event to raise money for Dogs for Good. This year we need your support more than ever before, so read on and see which activity is best for you. It’s time to celebrate every dog, not only ours. 10 WAYS DOGS ARE HELPING PEOPLE WITH AUTISM Here are 10 ways Dogs for Good makes a difference to people with autism. Road Safety we’re helping children and adults with autism by using animal assisted intervention to improve road-safety awareness and keep them safer when they go out. Playing games. We also work with children in our Community Dog service, principally through referrals from our Community Dog partners – out in the community and through the placement of community dogs 10 YEARS OF TRAINING AUTISM ASSISTANCE DOGS 10 Years of Training Autism Assistance Dogs. Ten years after Dogs for Good began the training of its first autism assistance dog, the charity says it has helped nearly 80 families but there are still many more who could benefit. Dogs for Good (formerly known as Dogs for the Disabled) rebranded in 2015 to reflect the wider services it nowoffers

Clip the lead to your dog, holding it in the opposite hand to the side that the dog is on and repeat step 2. This time, instead of dropping treats behind you, praise and place them on the floor by your dog or feed from your hand. If feeding from your hand, stop and feed. The longer the lead is, the better.DOGS FOR GOOD

The aim is to inspire positive action, supporting and empowering dog owners to enhance their relationship with their dog through practical, accessible and inclusive advice, all with a sound theoretical underpinning. It’s about enhancing knowledge and understanding about dog behaviour, psychology and well-being, so people can take steps to DOGS FOR SCHOOLS PROGRAMME Dogs for Good has a wealth of experience of supporting children through our Assistance Dog and Family Dog services. Peter is a board member and a past President of DOGS FOR GOOD CENTRES IN BANBURY, WARRINGTON & BRISTOL The national training centre in Banbury is the main base for our charity & for training assistance dogs. Week 1. Pups are born unable to see or hear, their eyes remaining tightly shut until they are 10 days old. They are reliant on mum for all their needs: still unable to regulate body temperature they seek out their mum in order to stay warm.
