HARTFORD AND SPRINGFIELD STREET RAILWAY Hartford & Springfield Street Railway. The Hartford & Springfield Street Railway was a high-speed interurban electric railway system running between the namesake cities that started operation in 1901 with the merger of a few smaller street railway companies. They are similar to Numbers 1 and 2, but had steel under-frames, were one foot longer (47' 0"), and only had five back-shaded white lamp on each bow and no beaver plaques. NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC SERVICE, INC. 836 Donated by New Orleans Public Service, Inc. through the efforts of our then treasurer Donald Snelgrove, Car #836 arrived on July 22, 1964 at Windsor Locks railroad yard, and was then trucked to the museum. At time of order and delivery (1922-1923) there was still 28.48 miles of 4'-8 1/2" standard gauge track in the city. It was manufactured by the Wason Manufacturing Co. in Springfield in the spring of 1927 as part of an order for 50 lightweight cars, each seating 44 passengers. The Springfield car numbers were 555 through 604. Several attempts to relocate it back to the area of the state house proved unsuccessful. With calls for its preservation, the Knox Foundation moved the Isle of Safety to the Trolley Museum in 1988. In that month, the railway company saw its main car house burn down, leaving it short-handed of streetcars to serve the Queen City. Car numbers 16 and 17 were two steel lightweight combination cars built by Wason Manufacturing Company of Springfield, Mass. in 1926 for the Springfield Electric Railway of Springfield, Vermont. MONTREAL TRAMWAYS 2600 History. By William E. Wood, December 2001. Montreal Tramways ordered light-weight, double-truck No. 2600 in 1929 as part of an order for 40 single-end, single-man cars and 6 double-end, single-man cars to be numbered 2600 - 2605 (renumbered in 1956 as 2005 - 2010) from CanadianCar & Foundry Co.
FAIR HAVEN & WESTVILLE RAILROAD CO. 355 Built to the order of the Fair Haven & Westville Railroad Co. in 1902, the J.G. Brill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, built this double truck, 15 bench open car, which received the number 355. On May 23, 1904, the FH&WRR Co. was conveyed to the Consolidated Railway. This was only five days after the Consolidated Railway was formed to take over WINTERFEST AND THE TUNNEL OF LIGHTS Winterfest and the Tunnel of Lights Event Details. NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC SERVICE, INC. 836 Donated by New Orleans Public Service, Inc. through the efforts of our then treasurer Donald Snelgrove, Car #836 arrived on July 22, 1964 at Windsor Locks railroad yard, and was then trucked to the museum. At time of order and delivery (1922-1923) there was still 28.48 miles of 4'-8 1/2" standard gauge track in the city. The Hartford & Springfield Street Railway was a high-speed interurban electric railway system running between the namesake cities that started operation in 1901 with the merger of a few smaller street railway companies.
