The INSTITUTE FOR COMPOSER DIVERSITY, winner of the 2018 ASCAP DEEMS TAYLOR/VIRGIL THOMSON MEDIA/INTERNET AWARD,
recipient of a 2020 SPHINX VENTURE FUND GRANT, and housed at the
STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT FREDONIA , is dedicated to the celebration, education, and advocacy of music created by composers from historically underrepresented groups through database resources and programming analysis. ------------------------- COMPOSER DIVERSITY DATABASE Our Composer Diversity Database is a resource for the musical community through which composers from underrepresented groups can be discovered. Composers can be found through several different search filters including gender, racial/ethnic demographics, sexual/romantic identity, residence, and various large ensemble and chamber ensemble genres. All composers have provided their consent and have confirmed the information included in the Composer Diversity Database. The ICD recognizes, and urges all users to recognize, that every person represented by a series of labels in this database is a creator with a story and a unique body of work. More information about our policies and procedures for including composers in our database resources can be found in our FAQS PAGE . ------------------------- WORKS DIVERSITY DATABASE Our Works Diversity Database allows users to search for individual compositions with numerous search filters from art songs, wind band works, and orchestral works by composers from underrepresented groups. Filters include various ensemble genres, duration, and grade level, as well as composer demographics and location, and the results include instrumentation (when known) and links for rental & purchase as wellas audio & video.
-------------------------ANALYSIS
Our Orchestra Season Analysis gathers and analyzes seasonal programming data from the professional concert world and provide simple, straight-forward analyses of current programming and curricular trends. Our resource initiatives provides conductors, performers, educators, researchers, media programmers, and music distributors tools with which they can make data-informed and model-based decisions on how best to diversify their programming and connect with their audiences and students. ------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- HOME | CONTACT | DONATE Institute for Composer Diversity3162 Mason Hall
