A MESSAGE FROM CLS
Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is relieved and encouraged by the guilty verdicts rendered against Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. However, the guilty verdicts are only a necessary step on the continuing road toward justice and meaningful reform. The untold numbers of Black lives lost to racist violence, often at the hands of law enforcement, is appalling. It must stop. Black Lives Matter. CLS also stands in solidarity with the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in opposing racist violence. CLS grieves for the recent horrific loss of lives due to anti-Asian violence in Atlanta and elsewhere and acknowledges the pervasive sense of fear and outrage among Asian American communities. CLS abhors the recent gun violence in our own City of Boulder and sympathizes with and is heartsick for the families of the victims. CLS will continue to work with its partner agencies and client communities to implement anti-racist and anti-violence policies and engage in conscious behaviors that lift up members of marginalized populations and that create race, gender, income, and health equities for all Coloradans.ABOUT US
